The "dude" at NAIAS said the car will not have the gas guzzler tax.

And speaking of "petrol," I recall when the boys at Top Gear did their recent supercar comparo test, Clarkson got ribbed pretty bad by Mays and Hammond for the horrible fuel economy his Ford GT was getting. I think it was actually down around 8 mpg. Same basic engine as the GT500, and with less weight too.
Glug, glug, glug...
But who cares?! Sucker's got 575 horsepower!

That won't be much consolation as we pass everything in sight 'cept the petrol station.

IT WAS ONLY JOKING,ALL CARS TESTED THERE HAVE VERY POOR FUEL ECONOMY.the reason they bashed GT for that is that they weren't able to find so many disadvantages that the Zonda and Ferrari had.
But I must say I am seriously afraid about the fuel economy of GT500 since it became my dream car,I will buy it one day and the worst thing are that horrible European gas prices
Fortunately 8 MPG doesn't mean anything for me,If I wanted to know how much it is, I would have to count ;now I only now that it uses 20 to 30 litres of gas per 100 Km in the city

I can't remember where I read it, but I recall a quoted 12mpg city in a few magazine's and sites.
I will look around again. Unless they were estimating, which is most likely.
Hey Brad, maybe you can get one of your numerous friends to release the actual gas mileage somewhere. Unless they are still fine tuning it...

Why can't Ford give us some decent wallpaper sizes? How many of you here are using a computer with a 12" monitor?

So, we have money for a GT500 but not for a $300 monitor.

Along with 8 miles per gallon city, it also said minimum of 100 octane gas...
I have never seen that at "my recommended BP"
I think someone took some liberties with at least parts of those specs..
EDIT: I just read the rest of the thread w/out noticing that there were 3 pages before I posted, my bad...

Here's a blurp I had saved away. I can't remember where I got it, but I'll continue to look
This statement was captured with all the pre-unveiling data, but I assume the fundamental truths still hold or are in the ball park.
I can't see them requiring 100 octane....that stuff is in the $4-5/gal range, isn't it?
Ford's "MOD" V-8 family of engines make more power than anything out of the factory in the past, yet tops 20 mpg on the highway and meets the government's LEV-II tailpipe emissions standards.

Did anyone catch this statement?
" SVT is primed for growth with the GT500 serving as the foundation for other performance Mustang projects..."
An actual "COBRA"? A GT500KR? And I thought we wounldn't have anything to talk about after this car comes out in June...

I NEVER even notice the 100 Octane comment! I think my eyes stopped at the MPG rating.

Perhaps you guys like to check out the SVT's compare section. I find the 1968 GT500 vs 2007 GT500 very interesting.

Please tell me that this is a joke, if not you're gonna spend $15000 the first year in gas alone. I'll keep my 05 and Mystic :bang: :bang:

That´s only joke
Please :
Only it is necessary to compare it with the Ford GT 2006 (GT40) for octane :
http://media.ford.com/products/presskit_di...=398&make_id=92
Recommended fuel for Ford GT : 91 octane premium.
