Just curious, where did those fuel economy numbers come from? I didn't see it listed on the SVT site, and I really, really doubt Ford would release a car with such poor fuel mileage. That's half the reason they axed the Lightning.

It's actually more like 10 mpg city, 16 mpg highway.

Same thing as the '03/'04 Cobras. Remember Ford blew a few engines before they got it right and settled on the iron block.

 

They also keep talking everywhere about light-faced gauges in this car. Anybody think the gauges have a "light" face? They look pretty dark to me.

No, I meant on the current Mustang GT. That SVT site indicates that the current 2006 Mustang GT uses an iron block. I thought the 4.6 liter engine was all aluminum?

Yes, it must be a typo. Just like the MPG.

 

That site also showed the 06 GT as having a cast iron block...puts into question a lot of info that's presented there.

 

I did find this:

It's in the performance section on the last paragraph in were it says 6-SPEED GEARBOX

My Cobra gets 12/19 if I treat it nice. I imagine it would be quite a feat for Ford to have the 5.4 which will likely have bigger heads to provide better fuel efficiency than the S/C 4.6.

You know what will be even funnier, is if it does get This might actually be a good thing. Imagine how demand for the new GT500 will plumet. You could move to the front of the line and not pay over MSRP.
