I checked the Barrett-Jackson website and found something very interesting. They are very good at not mis-representing items up for auction. They descibe the car as "an early VIN 2007 Shelby GT500 coupe, the first one offered for sale to the public. The car will be produced to the successful bidder’s specification, including the color and factory available options, for delivery when production begins later in the year." This would seem to clearly say it will not be Serial Number 1. That car will probably go to some Ford exec. or maybe even Shelby himself. That car will probably be worth a million dollars someday, while the car being auctioned will probably be worth 50 grand in ten years. It may be worth a little more if it is a single digit serial number but I bet most of those are currently making the autoshow circuit already. I was guessing it would go for around 125 grand since a Ford GT can be got in the 150's but I don't think I would go that high if it is not serial number 1. If anyone knows for sure I'm wrong about this and it will be #1 please let me know before saturday...
Maybe it is the the serial #1 car that was offered up to Shelby and he told Ford to auction off the rights to it for charity. In that scenario, it is the serial #1 car. Just food for thought....

The '07 GT500 should be on the auction block between 3:14-3:45 eastern.

How about that FR500 going for 187,000... WOW. They also interviewed Edsal Ford, he thinks the 07 GT-500 will go for 215,000.....

Just saw it surrounded by people. Red with white stripes. Still not bidded on as of yet. Should be soon.

I wonder how they're going to show it. The Barrett-Jackson website says that the car will be produced to the successful bidder’s specification, including the color and factory available options, for delivery when production begins later in the year.

Edit: I guess they are showing a pre-production car.

If it goes for that much you can bet some dealerships will be quoting that when they are asking for AMV.

It's on right now, 4:42 EST. Edsel Ford and Mr Shelby step out of the car. Bidders are bidding on being the 1st owner of a production shelby (not the actual car on the stage)

Dollars go to Caroll Shelby's children foundation. You get SVT tour to see your car being built.
