I called and asked if they had Stage 3s or GT500s The response was: no Stage 3 one GT500 vert and was I interested in which I replied I wasn't. I did not ask about price for two reasons. First, I wasn't interested in what they had and second, at this stage it is counter productive to negotiate over the phone. I believe that if a car is found which meets one's color choice and options it is best to pay a visit and make a serious offer in person. If they are realistic and smell money one might just drive away with it.

I completely agree with you. I only asked because Inverness is quite a drive from where I live. Not that I mind making the trip for the right car, I would just hate to arrive only to find out that they want upwards of $60k just like the rest of them on ebay. I have found various black verts on ebay...but all excessively high $$$. Thanks again for the info though. I appreciate it.

Some people give money to charity ,some give it to there car dealer. The only sure thing is you will not get it back on resale or insurance loss coverage.

In theory, ebay is the dealers' best friend providing all bids are legitimate. If they aren't and some high bids are placed by ringers then the dealer knows exactly where it stands and that's the time when a serious buyer might be able to make a purchase.

Agreed. So all I have to do is place bogus bids and then pay them a little visit.

Why won't it prove that you own one? A picture of a GT500's odometer past loading dock miles and a piece of paper that has "Shelby_sez" on it should do the trick.

Well, for sure we can eliminate the sales engineers. We all know they passed and practice all ethics and dealer integrity self paced courses.

A guy I saw today bought one this week in NH for $5,000 over MSRP.
Closer than $20K, but still not MSRP.

I think we will be hearing more and more of this in the coming months.

This is hilarious. I almost fell off my chair!

From one "concerned" dealer:
"private listing - bidders' identities protected"

They're fetching more here in H-Town. We have two more on the way - purchased from other Dealers - already paid for in full - at 20 over. The longest we have had one so far on the Showroom was about 18 hours.

Pessimism, hopelessness, disappointments, catastrophes, chaos...

I desire to have as little to do as possible with Government.

Funny, I could have sworn that was the Republican platform.
Oh yeah, I remember, they're all the same.

I just got an e-mail from a local dealer in Long Island, NY - he says he has a Coupe in Stock for $73,500 and a Convertible for $78,900, not sure of the options, but I'd much rather have a Corvette Z06 and save a few grand - those you can get for MSRP now!

production numbers

How many units for 07 and 08, been told by two dealers only 3500 per year, looking at paying 60,000.00 for a GT 500, should I wait?

9,000 +/-.

To pay such inflated price for a car which will not likely appreciate should be based on logic and personal economics. The time to over pay for a production car is at the conclusion of a production run not at its beginning.

If you happen to be rich go for it. If you work for a living give the car and insurance payments its due priority.
