50 Starts?
I read over on another DG that the new GT500 had a set up where the full power of the car didnt kick in till 50 starts where done, primarly to keep the dealerships from flogging the hell of them.

There is a post on here somewheres that was put up recently. It said you had to drive like 5 miles or start is so many times. I cant recall if it was 50 or not. Makes sense though. For all the $$ being spent the car shouldnt be beat before the owner gets it.

I've heard that too, not sure if its true.
I have heard about them coming 'detuned' so the dealership has to unlock it (ie: so loaders don't kick the **** outta them)
And it would be cool too if they had a power lock on them for x-starts and x-miles as part of a break in/anti-joyride feature

The cars are shipped de-tuned, literally. A Taurus could out run them.
During the PDI, the tech either has to cycle thru the start sequence 50 times OR drive the car continuously for 5 miles. Since part of the PDI is driving it anyway, that is what we have chosen to do.
Also one Shelby came in with the low fuel showing 3 miles to empty, the other showing 1 mile till empty. So besides driving them 5 miles, the tech had to get 91 octane in the cars as well.

Thanks for the info Ed.
The Ford GT was the same way. Its full power was cut off until it was drive 50 miles (if my memory serves me correctly), so it was to not be flogged by the wrong people before they got into the hands of their owners.

I trailered mine home then took it out for the consecutive 5 mile run. I had literally no boost on the gage. When I hit the 5 mile marker the boost gage came alive as did the car. Pretty cool. And real nice knowing that no one got to flog my car.
