Would you buy a EcoBoost powered GT?

I still say "There's no replacement for displacement." But a 2.0L EB getting 35 MPG's is a pretty cool offering. Not for me, but I'd love to see it.

Tough call for me but probably not. I understand the potential and future but I want my with 8 spark plugs thank you. I will pay the penalty at the gas pump and I will enjoy the V8 sound. There is no replacement for that. All out performance is no longer a priority. Ford finally has all I want hp wise and I thank them for it. Please Ford, give us the 5 liter for years to come.

Lets just hope that they don't stick the "Shelby" name on a car with such an engine, so perhaps that dealers around here will stop marking them up by $5,000-$10,000.

I still prefer the sound of blower whine to turbo spool any day of the week. I'd rather they keep the turbos for the smaller applications and throw the blower on the V8. Like I said before, there won't be anything "Eco" friendly about a TT V8 with direct injection if they bring it out, but I wouldn't hold your breath. The whole concept of EcoBoost was to give you the power of the larger engine with a smaller, more economic package.
I don't think people are going to aspire to get V12 power with V8 fuel economy in their Mustang. That's like saying "I'll take the mortality rate of ebola, but with the symptoms of tuberculosis."

Have to agree with this guy. Mustangs should always have a V8 option. And if you stick twin turbos on that V8 well.........

Carroll is getting up there in age and once he's gone my guess is so will the name on any future Ford cars.
They'll either go back to using Cobra or just GT500 with no "Shelby" attached.

I don't see why Carol Shelby's passing would stop Ford and Shelby Automobiles from continuing their business realtionship.

Also by dropping the "Shelby" name on any future Ford products after Carroll dies and the current order/run of Shelby cars are done, it would drastically increase the value of the Shelby cars.
But personally even though Carroll probably did very little in the development of the current Shelby cars, when he passes to come out with a new "Shelby" car that he was not involved with in any way shape or form kind of defeats the purpose of having his name on it IMO.

Not to say it's not awesome to see them knowing what they represent on the old Foxes, but man, they're ugly to just look at.

Would it have made a difference if Ford had stuck with the original name "Twinforce" instead of Ecoboost? Or maybe they should bring that name back if and when they ever offer a turbo anything again in a Mustang. Let's face it, if you are buying a car because you want great fuel mileage the Mustang should probably not be your first choice...
