Why Steeda Cold Air Intakes Blow Away The 'Competition'
I have been using Steeda parts on my cars for YEARS. Im talking like 10 or so years. I have been more then happy and they have never failed me.. NEVER! This is like asking "if I put after market tires on my car will ford cover it?". First one rule #1 always applies and that rule is you Pay to Play. The second rule is you get what you pay for..
My old 2000 mustang had steeda gear

My 2002 svt focus rocked the steeda

My 2009 mustang had steeda

my 2011 fiesta was steeda'd out

and I was never let down. The parts always stood up to the test. The tunes were amazing and I daily drive my fun cars. The Service steeda gives is my personal standard. The info Gus gives is always the last word I need to hear.
Whats the worst that can happen?? you bought a nearly $40,000.00 car.. if it goes boom a little more will not kill you. If you were broke as a joke you would not be rolling in such a car. People get cheap in all the wrong places.

it seems like thats where the confusion is and i think this is where STEEDA needs to clear things up. do they only stand behind the CAI or the CAI with a tune?
why can't the CAI be used without a tune, will it throw some codes? I'm sure you can use it without a tune, you will only gain 2-3HP but that would be an expensive 2-3HP. now if they stand behind the CAI and the tune then its a ship worth jumping on.

Here's another question towards STEEDA's support of a claim that their part may be involved in a warrantee issue...let's say the dealer/service department will not honor a warrantee because they claim the STEEDA CAI was at fault. You've stated you will be involved with the investigation. This is great. However, the car in inoperatable, so what about temporary transportation? Does STEEDA provide this while the investigation is being done?
For this reason, I'm debating as to if I buy a CAI from ANYONE until my warrantee expires, which would be at 100K, since I bought a 2011 used, with a factory warrantee still intact, plus a certified pre-owned drivetrain warrantee until 100K...
I would not want to be left without a ride while the two parties are determining who's at fault. As we all know, this could take months or years tied up in arbitration or court. Meanwhile, would the expense of another car/other means of tranportation be at my expense? This would ad up to much more than the cost of a CAI.

The CAI alone will not void the warranty. It's the tune that voids the warranty. Stick a tuneless Roush or Airaid and you are fine.

Amen to that. If only for the fact that they come on here and go into such detail about their testing, relationship with Ford, how they will work you etc etc. Gives me a very good level of comfort to make the plunge.
You can technically switch between octanes on the different tunes but it is not recommended. We write our tunes and keep some sensors active, something other tuners do not do. This will allow the engine to adjust between the different octanes. Like I had stated, it is recommend to run the tune with the octane it was intended for.
You can get a tunder with 3 different tunes that represent any combination of 87 89 91 93. The tuners can hold up to 3.

I think others brought up well the point of the Steeda intake needing to be used with a tune. So according to MY local dealers who have to agree to fix it or else I need to pay & get a lawyer or play a waiting game I'm screwed.
I do you want to address those who say "I've used Steeda parts for 10 years and nothing's ever happened...". The 5.0 is a whole new, much more complex beast with very little extra margin. A Ford regional service trainer & power train expert told me this & said not to alter the 5.0's calibrations (of course that could have been the party line). On top of all that is Ford's unprecedented anti-tune TSB issued last spring for the 5.0s, something the 4.6 never faced.
I REALLY want to get the Steeda CAI and tune, but it simply isn't happening unless and until Steeda says they'll pick up the factory Ford drivetrain warranty that every dealer in a 4-hour radius has told me will be voided with the addition of ANY aftermarket parts (& they treat FRPP as aftermarket too). It sucks but it's my world if I want to stay married.

Didn't American Muscle decide to honor any warranty left on the car if damage was caused by their tune? If Steeda were to put it in writing like American Muscle I'm sure they would sell a boat load of intakes and tunes to a lot of people on the fence about getting a Steeda intake and tune.

I really do not see " The 5.0 is a whole new, much more complex beast with very little extra margin".. I remember many people blowing motors when the amazing new 300hp 4.6 came out. My SVT focus motor in 2002 had the same amazing steps forward and a few the new 5.0 motor doesnt have like the dual stage intake manifold.

I think the point here is that Steeda is selling off a product that will void your warranty. They need to state that plainly and clearly so that people can choose whether or not to go that route or take a less intrusive route and pick one that does not require a tune to see max results. I realize that it is buyer beware but people come here for info, so the "cryers" are merely pointing out things some people may not realize.

it doesnt void your warranty. why can no one read and understand the moss act?
its simple it really is simple. If you have a issue the dealer might say "hey its the tune" and then you say "no its not" and then dealer sends the info to ford and ford says check into the problem. Its against the LAW for a auto maker to say "we will not honor our warranties" if the part has nothing to do with problem.

About the Steeda parts? Its cut and dry about what Ford did. Ford put out a TSB about tuned 5 Liters!! If your car comes in and is tuned, and a dealer sees it, they can void your warranty. Plain and simple! If Steeda says their CAI needs a tune, that will in essence, void the warranty if a dealer sees it in there and they want to be the "enforcer". I don't know why they just don't do what Roush did back when they came out with their 1st supercharger kit for 2005+ GTs. Roush's kit came with a full 3 year 36,000 mile warranty that ran with the Ford one! If you installed it at delivery, you got 3 years on the motor. If you put it on a year later, you got the balance of the 3 year/36K whatever came 1st (I believe, but can't recall at this moment). Steeda, will you do the same?

I've PM'd TJ twice about warranty support etc. and he has never responded - also saw posts on Facebook about warranty when they posted their flow test results yesterday and they were mysteriously deleted 15 minutes later . . .
Message to Steeda - I LOVE your parts, have a bunch of them and they are great. But, if you are going to talk the talk about standing behind your customers and helping them with Ford etc. in the case of a warranty claim/dispute then DO IT. Put your $ where your mouth is and put it in writing.
If and when you do - put me down for an intake and tune!!! Until then, stop posting this nonsense as it really means nothing to those on the fence because it’s all talk!

Eric, your local dealer treats FRPP parts as aftermarket and voids warranties with them? Seriously? They gotta be just totally ignorant to what they are selling!! If they install a FRPP CAI and tune AT DELIVERY, the factory warranty is carried over as the part is installed at the time of purchase and put on a repair order for the customer to document. Why they would say that is beyond me!!!

I guess it comes down to people do not want to pay to play. I also guess a solid rep and good customer feedback doesnt mean something to some people. If a magic piece of paper that says " you are covered no matter what you do" is the only thing that can make you a buyer then you were never really shopping in the first place.

Seriously, if they would at LEAST come out and address it, fine. But look back through the thread, even after it was mentioned they didnt address it, they answered another post entirely and still have not come forward to address valid concerns. Thats speaks more to me than anything, cute videos or not. Roll the dice buddy and let me know how that works out for you.
