Where to find inexpensive stock parts?

I was curious where I could look for inexpensive stock parts. Id like to get some HID lights but would rather pay to upgrade out right rather than finance them with the rest of the car as an option.

Me thinks adding HID lights after the fact will be pretty expensive. I could be wrong though...

Bob Tasca was advertising fordparts.com at last weekend's NHRA.

Also check this thread about HID's. She may know:

I order parts for my '05 F150 through this dealer in Las Vegas. They were way more reasonable than my local dealers.

Those are aftermarket HIDs. If you're planning on getting the OEM HIDs after the fact...don't. They will at LEAST be $1k-1200, but I'd guess $2000. If you're planning an aftermarket HID kit, there are plenty, but look on YouTube. A bunch of 2010 guys have been happy with the 5000k kit, but I don't remember the brand. Look for the Grabber Blue and Sterling Gray cars that have them.

Im curious why you think they would cost nearly 2K when the option to add them to the car straight from ford is only $525. I would also think minimal changes would need to be made to the wiring harness to get these to work. I wouldnt doubt it if ford uses the same harness for both to save on cost.

Each HID headlight assembly on the Ford parts site lists at $1118.23 but only $525 + security package to add them at the factory.

Got a part number? I can check it at a few other places if so.

Here is the parts breakout with relevant prices expanded. 13008 is the part number but the in-cart description lists it as a pack quantity. It's odd that they would list them separately if they're packed together.

Thank you. Try pricing out other stuff that's not installed at the factory...

There is a shutter or something in the housing that raises for high beam. You can hear it click when you switch from high or low beam.

The Hids require special wiring. There is a Mod for the 05-09's Which adds a Diode to a Donor Harness to do the deed. I would surmize the 10&11's would be similar but can not guarantee that.

As Far as Pricing on some OEM Hids Shoot me an Email or Give me a Call.

When you buy HIDs from the factory, Ford keeps the stock headlights. If a pair of stock headlights are $1000, then the HIDs are $1525 minus the credit for the stock ones. Obviously, if you buy aftermarket then you would have to pay the $1525. You could in theory sell you stock ones (although maybe not for what new ones would cost).

The security package (tilt sensor, etc) also contains the wiring for the HIDs, which is why you need the package with the HIDs. This would make sense as only one loom would be needed from the GEM module to the front of the car. More looms= more cost+more routing issues+more weight.

No prob, I just knew the 07-09 OE HIDs were like $1000 from Ford, and they weren't projectors (much more complex). So it was a pretty good guess haha. But really, look into other options that aren't installed at the factory. I'd bet the Backup Cam and spoiler and harness is more than $1000 too...

Options are cheaper if ordered while the car is being built. My Dad didn't see the optional trunk organizer when he ordered his 2010 Taurus. I bought him one for his birthday. Would have been a $160.00 option but i had to pay with tax and shipping, $412.17 for the exact same thing.
