Squeak located - 2011 GT

Originally I thought the very audible and very annoying squeak was coming from the shaker 1000 system, seeing how, coincidentally the noise went away when I took the speaker box and amp out...

After removing everything again in order to start applying dynamat as required, I decided to go for one last rip just to be sure, and low and behold, the squeak was still there!

After removing the carpet I found this...

What's this?? Is something missing maybe?

Ahh heck, those are tight enough...

On the other side of this bracket is a black plastic box that says discard if dropped.

So for anyone with a car that was built the week of 4/12 and can hear something coming from the passenger rear side of the car..this just might be you're culprit!

That's funny. Still better than the way they use to slap em together in the 60s and 70s.

Looks like the mounting bracket for the S1000 box? Either way, whatever it is, it looks to be missing a couple of nuts

So much for the focus on quality assembly.

Nice job Ford.

Looks to me like I would be removing that from the car.

I will check mine when I get it, I mean if I get it.

Oh, poop. If AAI QC sees this thread, it's going to be another hold for 'final, final inspection' of 10,000 Mustangs.

Mods, could you delete this?

That's kinda lame really. I can't even tell what that bracket is. It looks like something is supposed to mount to it. Is that the front wheel well there? Is there a similar bracket on the driver side?

This. We can'd handle another two months of waiting because one car squeaks!

No worries. I'm pretty sure QC is one guy who works from 10-3 with a 2 hour lunch. . .

If you look at the bottom left hand corner of that opening in the center you can see a little black box. This is the one that says "discard if dropped". Some sort of sensor?

Not sure if this has something to do with the S1000. It's located right behind the speaker box and mounting bracket (The S1000 bracket is much beefier than this little guy), and from what I can tell, it's only purpose is to hold that little black box in place.

Maybe some kind of side-impact airbag sensor?

Found it on fordparts.com. It's a lighting control module (part 13C788B). The only reason I can think of for having one there would be for the sequential tail lights.
The bracket itself is called a 'fuse box retainer'

Well played.

BTW, I wasn't disagreeing with it's purpose in case I came across that way.

I wasn't taking offense. I presume the bracket is multi-function, with the three visible studs used to assist the Shaker 1000 bracket and/or for retaining the trunk liner.
