More than a few years ago, Pirelli made a big deal out of hand made performance tires - could have been a marketing ploy, but I can tell you, its better to have the tire manufacturing process mostly automated with the human involvement centered around quality control.

I'd really be interested in where the tires were manufactured, my gut feeling is that they were manufactured outside the US somewhere and in the process of delivering the tires they have been incorrectly stored and/or shipped. The Jag I had mentioned was a 2011 model with tires manufactured in 2008 or 2009
