A base v6 with Ford racing 3.73 gears would spank the v6 premium 3.31 gear ratio any day of week. Personally, I didn't want the 3.31 gear ratio and want 3.73 gears. Respectfully, I would even venture to say it would be a close race (depending on drivers) between a 2011 v6 with 3.73 gears, cold air intake, sct bama tuner and Force II Flowmaster exhaust vs stock 20115.0 with standard 3.31 gears. The 5.0 would pull out the win but not by much

Those mentioned upgrades on the V6 would run around $1600. I think that's less than the premium package or around and you would blow the doors off a V6 with the premium package.

I wouldnt recommend the 456s for your 5.0. Adam Brown from revolution put them in his race car with boss intake and cams etc. and ended taking them back out and putting the 3.73s back in.

The base v6 WITH the performance package is one of the best values available today to the car buying public, referring to foreign and domestic brands both. This is in light of the machine's performance vs the outlay of cash required to achieve said performance.

Yeah man that's true. I'm just going to get my tune, intake first then get some 3.73s. Do you know approx it will be to install them?

I personally would rather not spend the 1800 dollars on the performance package and just get the base with the 2.73 gears. I would rather take that $1800 and buy some mods that would outperform the performance package and push the base 5.0. Ford should allow V6 customers to have 3.55 or 3.73 gears installed on it. But the most is 3.31 gear ratio from Ford. I believe having 3.73 gears on the 11 plus v6 turns the car in a different animal from 2.73 or 3:31. The 11 plus is not that far off from previous GT HP and Torque numbers and 3.55 or 3.73 are the bomb. No reason why the 11 plus shouldn't have them as well. With a Sct bama tuner and cold air intake one can easily raise the HP and Torque to equal or greater than a 10 GT.

A good installer should be around 275 to 300.00. The gears and parts should be around $ 305 from American Muscle which are Ford racing gears.

I would have to have my Ford dealer install the gears and tune the car, just to keep it kosher with the warranty and mods.

YES, I know about the warranty act - but I try to keep it cool with the dealer.

I would however install the CAI myself.

One question thou, is a CAI even worth it on a 2011 V6 auto trans?

I have heard that with our air box design that a CAI is almost pointless....

Just curious on a price from a Ford Dealership, I had called the Ford dealership where I purchased my stang. Conversation with my dealership revealed they won't even install higher gears than 3.31 on the V6. The dealership advised they don't install Ford racing parts.

To answer your question about the CAI, I just recently installed an airaid Cai on my 11 v6. I LOVE IT. Car sounds awesome with it. As far as how much HP and Torque increased? No idea, Didn't get a Dyno. I feel its worth it. I did have American Muscle write me a new tune for the cai.

My dealership is a Ford Racing dealership so they can install all that good stuff. They also work on FGT's and Roush's.

I will not put an aftermarket tune on my vehicle.

You would spend A LOT more aftermarket, to get the base car up to the overall specs of a base car plus performance package. The performance package gets you the GT suspension, I believe better brakes, the 3.31 gear, plus better wheels and tires. Aftermarket wheels and tires would probably run you 1500 or more for just them. The 11-12 PP 19 inch wheels are some of the best looking wheels they have ever had...(even Ford salespeople comment on them and ask if they are aftermarket!!) Like someone said, the base car with performance package is by far the best bang for your buck you can get today.

My dealer installed my 3.73's. I think the 'labor' was 650 dollars . They replaced the bearings and seals. I'm happy to say i'm having traction problems

Big difference in acceleration now you have 3.73 instead of 2.73 gears?

PP is a terrible deal if you live anywhere with snow. You need another set of tires just for the cold months. Not everything is about performance, especially with a v6.

I went from 3.31's to the 3.73's. Big difference in everything. We have a lot of hills in Tennessee and the gears brought the power (torque) down to lower r.p.m.'s. I tried to make a new youtube video and do some 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times with my G-Tech, i can't get enough traction. I ran 5.4, 0 to 60 times before the gears and the aluminum driveshaft. I ran a 7.8 second 0 to 60 after the gears and driveshaft becaues i didn't get traction until 80 m.p.h. . I need to get some drag radials

Your tires are spinning that much by having the 3.73 gears? So your getting no traction with your stock tires? Is yours a stick or auto? Does having a automatic make a difference in the traction with 3.73 gears. Do you think you would have the same traction issue with 3.55 gears?
