What I need to do to a stock 14 GT to achieve 1200hp?

Hi, I recently picked up a 14 mustang coming from a terminator. I right now am tearing the car apart for paint. I’m ordering a built long block, VMP gen3rs blower, and a fuel system kit. I know I’m probably gonna have to upgrade the trans, I know the my-82 is pretty weak from what I’ve been reading but I don’t know where to start for the trans. I also don’t know what needs to be done to achieve my goal so the car’s reliable. I’m wanting a reliable weekend that I can take to the strip now and again and have a budget of $15000 after the paint job, built motor, blower kit, and fuel system kit. Anyone that could help would be much appreciated.

Whoa.

I don’t think blower is a way to go. There are some twin turbo kits out there which can get you to 1200. Look at Helion.

That kind of power puts a lot of stress on the rest of the drive train. I would look to Ben Calimer to build a transmission that should hold up. You are also going to need a new clutch. I would look at a Mantic triple disc for that kind of power. If you can get the car to hook the axles will be short lived as well. Good luck with your project.

Look on youtube. I've found video's of a couple 1200-1400 horsepower 5.0's . Maybe you can get in touch with them.....

Along with everyone else's recommendations you might want to call up Currie and get a built 9 inch for it.
You more than likely will need a built up K-Member, Subframe connectors and a full cage to stiffen up the rest of the car and make sure you can open and close the doors.
Also by the time you get the Motor, Blower or Twin Turbos, Transmission, Rear End and stiffen up the Chassis you probably are going to need a bigger budget.

yep, that's the main thing, I doubt $15K will be enough including paint

Jason at Department of Boost probably has some practical experience with this, but 1,200 is pushing the envelope even for him
