2013 Pats failure

I was hoping to see if anyone has had this problem I have right now. I tried to leave work and my car wouldn't start and i noticed the security light on. I only have one key because i just bought the car used about 2 weeks ago, anyways i thought it was a bad key so i called a locksmith to cut me a new key and program it. Well it didn't work he tried 5 different ways and no luck. So I towed it to the dealer and they said it needed a new instrument cluster and it should fix the problem and the cost is 1200 just for the cluster not including diagnosing and programming. So it was suppose to be ready today and I get the call that the cluster didn't work and they need more diag time. Now I'm into this thing for 2200 bucks with no fix and my anxiety is through the roof right now. Is there something else it can be? Or any ford techs have any suggestions? Thanks for your guys time.. I just dont know what to think right now.

I would tell them to put the old cluster back in.. There screw up should not cost you. There is no need to just be replacing good parts in these days. I would think there scan tool would tell them exactly what is wrong. Besides the tech that diagnosed it the first time.

I agree, your dealer is screwing you over. They are youtube videos on the problem you're having.

Thirded. Although, it's a dealership, so good luck with that, and you probably signed off on it without knowing, because shops don't typically throw a parts cannon at this kind of stuff without your say so in some way.
