What I hate about dealerships (aka why I can't have a GT500)
It's not a matter of who I believe; I've already got mine, and at sticker. People aren't buying from kbb because kbb doesn't sell cars. The GT500 is a niche car. If you think you're going to talk down a dealer on price of a GT500--of any year--you have a lot to learn about the car business.
i would make it a point that they Will never get my business and i would do everything i could to deter any of my friends or family from shopping there.Or If you don't mind wasting a day, maybe look at another model ,grind them into the ground ,then when you have it at the lowest possible price, walk away

I really hate that all the dealerships here (and it looks like after an online search - most places) you CANNOT find a GT500 selling at MSRP.
Case in point.
2013 Shelby GT500 Convertible. $80k. That's a 15k Markup.

This is part of why I ordered my GT last year and kinda settled. But I have a shorter duration on the loan, and my payment is high, but because I want it paid off sooner. Even though I've had the car for a while now, if I were to trade it in today, I'd still break even, and if I could get a GT500 at MSRP, the loan would only increase by about $50-75 a month, but at a longer loan duration.
Problem is ordering a 65k GT500 and not paying 80k for it.......
I'm just ranting cuz I stopped by this local dealership and they are sitting one FIVE new GT500's (three are 2014) and two used 2007 GT500's (still asking 38k for them, each) all of the new cars have a major markup 15-20k
It just bothers me that the only thing that's keeping me from owning a GT500 is the adjusted market value as they call it.....

so what you saying is you pay a dealer his asking price, it may work like that were you live, but here so cal there is at least 20 ford dealers with in an hour of my house (depending on so cal traffic) so i did find a dealer that came down on price for the gt 500, now if ford would just get the car built

I think the issue is you either not being able to shop around online or not being able to afford one in the first place.
Cars.com, autotrader, and ebay all have GT5's for MSRP
What most people don't realize is that you have the right to see the invoice for any new car that a dealership is offering. I've had salesman ask me why I want to see the invoice. I tell them that they have to show me if I ask and I want to make sure they aren't trying to gouge me. I make them an offer of a little more than the invoice shows they payed for the vehicle and tell them to take it or leave it. Most dealerships will take it if your offer is reasonable because they ALWAYS make money even if they sell the car at cost.
Just wanted to put that out there.

that guitar in your avatar, you probably paid a 30-50% mark-up. Everything you buy it "marked-up" its simple supply and demand. I understand your frustration but dealerships can charge whatever they want and some dude with more money then brains will pay that price, no questions asked. Can you blame a dealership? If they can sell it at a 5,10,15k mark up god bless em. They need to make a living to...it is a business after all...

BINGO.
We sold our '13/'14 GT500's for $1,000 below MSRP and we're completely sold out with no more coming - sorry!
Mean? Someone recommended contacting me for GT500's, but I can't get any more since we sold out so quickly, so I just wanted to save people from emailing me only to find out I couldn't help them. We're sold out because we had great, fair prices. We even sold our two new Boss 302 Laguna Seca's for MSRP with NO markups, even though they are much rarer than GT500's (750 built per year in '12 and '13). I sleep well at night knowing that I work for a very ethical dealership.

Somewhat on the same topic, the Harley Davidson dealership in Hawaii will not work with Exchange New Car Sales to have motorcycles purchased by service members overseas delivered because they can sell bikes above MSRP since they are the only game in town.
I paid a little over MSRP for my Boss, out the door, but I couldn't get one through New Car Sales here and had to search online, and try to find a car near a port to have it shipped. Also talked with a dealer in Irvine, CA and they stated folks there would pay the ADM so they continue to charge it.
Bottom line is it's business and some folks are just out there to make money.

Probably a good thing you didn't buy a GT500 considering when you lost your job it had you so strapped you couldn't even put your rims on for quite awhile as they sat in their boxes. Glad everything worked out for you, but just saying...
The wheel deal too... Yeah, when I was strapped the extra play money disappeared, and realistically saving is better than spending, so I need to keep that in mind, and accept that as a part of maturing into my 30's..
GT500? Maybe. Just not right now. Thanks everyone for your input.
