What I hate about dealerships (aka why I can't have a GT500)
I really hate that all the dealerships here (and it looks like after an online search - most places) you CANNOT find a GT500 selling at MSRP.
Case in point.
2013 Shelby GT500 Convertible. $80k. That's a 15k Markup.

This is part of why I ordered my GT last year and kinda settled. But I have a shorter duration on the loan, and my payment is high, but because I want it paid off sooner. Even though I've had the car for a while now, if I were to trade it in today, I'd still break even, and if I could get a GT500 at MSRP, the loan would only increase by about $50-75 a month, but at a longer loan duration.
Problem is ordering a 65k GT500 and not paying 80k for it.......
I'm just ranting cuz I stopped by this local dealership and they are sitting one FIVE new GT500's (three are 2014) and two used 2007 GT500's (still asking 38k for them, each) all of the new cars have a major markup 15-20k
It just bothers me that the only thing that's keeping me from owning a GT500 is the adjusted market value as they call it.....

I understand your pain, I'm right there with you.
The situation was similar for me, though while I could afford the GT500 before I decided on my 2014, I didn't really want to pay the price, $68k, of a near fully loaded GT500 even after my salesman got the dealer waive their $5k markup for me as a return customer. The GT500 isn't eligible for any Incentives or Rebates, nor the X-Plan, which meant paying sticker, which I just don't think the car is worth.
While the markup price varies by dealer, you can find some dealerships willing to sell you a GT500 without the markup, especially if you've done business with them before.

If it's any consolation..........and I know it won't be, but GT500s over here retail at £65k. The pounds Sterling
But it does suck. At the end of the day, it's a Ford and it really shouldn't deserve a "market re-adjustment".
But there are at least a couple of dealers on here that'll sell them at list. Pity they don't get a big allocation though.

Stupid adjusted market blah blah blah! This is the reason why I didn't drive off in the GHIG BOSS that they had on the showroom floor. They wouldn't come down off that stupid number. I just found out that the GM of the dealership where I purchased my GT goes to my church. Way to find this out 8 months late! He's a car guy too and not just a numbers guy. They always have SVT vehicles around. At least the next time I buy something just for me I have a slight advantage. Still makes me mad.
Go out of state.
Here's a new 2011 convertible in Greenville, SC http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

Exactly. I don't see the issue. There are PLENTY of dealerships willing to sell at msrp. Some listed above even. It contact five oh Brian on this site. He's fair, and will ship anywhere in county.
Yup, lots of those kind of cars selling at msrp, some maybe less than msrp if you are willing to look around enough and wait for the right deal to come along. Then either have it shipped or fly out and get it and drive it home.
Aren't you in the northeast corridor? Everyone thinks they're a savvy business person there cuz they always routinely overpay for everything...
Supply and demand - like others have said plenty of quieter midwest dealers willing to 'only' take MSRP. The $55,000 600+ HP car is only marketing...

A guy bought one (13 vert) 3 months in N.H. for 5K below MSRP.
If 15K is the difference in being able to afford it or not I would suggest waiting a bit and strengthening your financial position. Pay off your current car before taking on more debt.
Plus The car just costs more to operate/maintain. Taxes, license, Insurance, Premium Gas, Oil Changes, Tires, SVT service, etc...
Just something to consider.

It will always be that way as long as people will cave in and pay it. I used to purchase a new truck every 2 years. The MSRP of the trucks has gone through the roof, especially if you are looking at one of the nice diesel crewcabs. However, I often see where they can be purchased for 10K below MSRP. Even the gas powered 1/2 tons are often discounted 6k. Obviously, that would not happen if people were paying the sticker price. Something like a GT500, I could see myself paying sticker and being glad to get it, but I wouldn't pay any more than that either.

They could do Mustangs that way, but then the MSRP on them would be much higher.
This sort of thing is partly why the base V6 Mustang is so much cheaper than the GT.
Shelbys at MSRP are abundant if you're willing to dig for it. It depends how much you want it; I had to go 3 hours away to find one at a price I wanted, and it took lots of emails and phone calls before I was comfortable with the dealer and price. There was no way I was going to let this current generation Shelby go by without snagging one. A plane ticket halfway across the country is a hell of a lot less expensive than a $20k mark-up.
There is a black 2014 in Gainesville, GA for under MSRP

There are cars out there like others have said. You just have search and search! Good luck!
