Hi, Stevedotmil -

If you're using AppLink with an iPhone, you must be connected via USB. Did this issue occur prior to the iOS 6 update? Is iHeartRadio the only app you're having a problem with?

I recommend soft resetting your iPhone, don't worry you won't lose any settings, it'll just reset the Bluetooth chip. To do so, press and hold the sleep/wake button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

I have a thumb drive hooked up to the USB 2 in the glove box. That way I can charge my iPhone and still have access to 32 GB of music on the thumb drive.

Wow - 50 Ways to Love Your Music (credit to Paul Simon).

For me, that's the issue. There are too many choices, so after trying a few options (inc. Sirius) I decided to load my hard drive with CDs - it takes commitment, but at least it loads them fast (I usually take along four or five CDs for a 1/2-hr trip). I'm now up to 2,000 songs loaded, with about the same to go I think. Nice thing about the hard drive is you get CD clarity all the time, and a very reliable way of indexing/choosing. It's as easy as the radio, for sure. Sirius can be OK, but for a service that touts "no commercials," they sure talk WAY too much (about themselves especially) - just give me the music! After the first 6 months, I dropped it. Then, after repeated offers of discounts in the mail, I finally added it again for 6 months for $25. Then decided even that wasn't worth it. So after dropping it a second time, they finally found my price I was willing to accept - A year for $27. Honestly though, I find myself flicking through the 8 or 10 channels I like, then switching to the hard drive.

OK, after all that rambling, I've a couple questions.
  • Has anyone found a way to load songs (even better, playlists/folders) from iPods to the hard drive (Electronics Package)? and
  • Is there a way to back-up the hard drive? I'd hate to reload all those CDs (I wouldn't do it a 2nd time, actually).
(Perhaps one of the Ford reps can answer this)

I have a 320GB portable WD hard drive connected to USB. As for loading music, I just copy all the files within my iTunes folder from my computer. SYNC does a good job crunching through all the content and building the index. Very clean.

Other than that, it's my iPhone over bluetooth for Pandora, Spotify and DI.fm.

Thanks! Did you need to reformat your WD HD to FAT32 (from NTFS) prior to this?

I listen mostly to the engine, but when I actually feel like listening to music, either my iPod or Spotify...
