What do you think of the new 2010?
all things aside, the car is killer. the more i see it in pictures, in different lights, the better i understand what they did. the interior is just a homerun, right out of the park. the exterior changes are bold and i think they did it right. i can't wait to see this in person and sit in one, though i'm keeping my 07. this thing with a 5.0 ends the muscle car wars, done and over; sorry but its just my opinion.
I think the economy will do that before the Stang gets a chance.
Here is a simple vote to get everyones input. Have fun.

If we start with the interior, she’s a beaut. Good lines nice layout and a design clue as to where they were heading with the outside. Kind of a modern take on the 68-69 version, IMHO. The interior group rose to the challenge and brought it off in extremely good stile.
Outside the nose of the beast is a blend of aerodynamics, with the tip of the hat to the interior’s lead. For now, enhanced aero dynamics are only way to increase the machine’s fuel efficiency, give the available power plants already on hand. Remember this thing was committed to production when gas was on the up swing toward the WTF range. (Sure, they’re down now, but next week/month they are just as likely go up again, almost as fast as an eighteen year old at a Victoria Secrets photo-shoot.)
My only complaint about the nose is the lack of paint on the GT’s front fascia. That, and the hood looks a little to “ricer” for my taste but like it was said here abouts. They have got to reach out to that crowd in bring in new blood if our boys are to survive. Again +10 on the aerodynamics of the bulge, I wish it wasn’t there but, not as bad as it could have been.
All else is good until we get to the door handles, then things went terribly wrong. The crease along the side should have been an honest to Lee Iacocca “C” rather than missing the target entirely like they did.
I was never a fan of “hips” even back in the day. (Yeah I’m one of those old guys.) But I give them an A for effort on these, again could have been much worse. To continue, the crease is then broken up by the rear fender flair before continuing to the rear end of the car…why the crease back there?
Next the much despised rear antenna which is better in the back than the front IMHO. The reason we didn’t get an “antenna-in-the-glass” is most likely the thousands of windows already on hand at Ford, and/or the cost of retooling for the mod at this point. As the parts guys can tell ya, the name of the game is “use until exhausted”.
Around the back, the bottom really falls out of the design. Again I point to aerodynamics here in their defense, the slope of the rear, and the bent corners are there to help break the “burble” and it’s accompanying suction…thus increasing gas mileage. That said, the rear end group dropped the ball, big time.
As I’m in a generous mood I’ll give them the hokey design of the tail lights in trade for the sequential turn signals. With the caveat that the design of said lights are not Mustang-ish. The sculpting of the rear end and choice of design is something straight from the Chevy Avalanche, only not as good. As with most of the rest of the car smooth is better, forget the lumpy-bumpy amateur looking rear diffuser. Paint will not do much for this thing either; it needs a good healthy throwing away, and a clean redesign. Or maybe take a note from the recent GT 500’s book, and if all else fails just make it a clean sweeping piece…Anything but what we’ve gotten so far.
To ask us the buying public to shell out upwards of 30 K-bucks for bad design is a travesty. (Ala. Black glass, third tail lights and the ever popular TPMS.)
So that’s how I see it, I attempted to be fair with my critique, taking the good with the bad, but over all I have to say I’m let down by it, our boys could have done better, lots better.
Regards,
Chuck

Huh? Covertibles have a windshield just like the coupes. My buddy had an old 1975 Buick Regal back in high school and the antenna was built into the windshield glass even way back then.
i love it, vast improvement over 05-09. the interior is the best upgrade IMO. that was a huge turn off for me on the 05-09. only thing i dont like is the headlights. wont be gettin one though, i have my dream car.
If you read his post, it only makes sense that he is talking about the REAR window. Have you had to replace a windshield that has defroster lines or the radio antenna built in? Very expensive in comparison to regular glass. Especially producing it.This topic has been covered before. No sense in redesigning the front or rear window when we will get an all new body and greenhouse with the next remake, not refresh.
Yes Freaking Way! The overall feeling that the back is way too big for the rest of the car. Also, the fact that it looks bloated. You can sugar coat it all you want. The rear end looks horrible. We can only pray the aftermarket comes up with a good fix.

No need to shout. Wait until you see it in person without the cameras highlighting everything. I think you will be surprised at how much better it looks.
Dude, why is it that you like to argue about everything?

There's no argument to speak of.... I simply said that antenna's in the windshield have been around forever. There's no reason why it could not be done on the Mustang, coupe or convertible. And actually, I prefer the mast antenna, at least one that's on the front like the older American cars. Sorry, but not a big fan of the antenna on the back like the Jap cars.
