Emailed the sales manager of my dealership, I'm supposed to get some update on what is happening with my 2012 GT/CS

Looked at my DORA which was printed on 2/9/11 and noticed a VIN # but it is only 7 digits. Is this just a filler number on the DORA until the build goes further?

 

It's most likely a partial. When issued it will start as 1Z (origin-USA). My DORA (and probably yours has VBP8CF (P8C I believe is Mustang GT coupe. Could be P8A or P8F I think depending on body style). I have a C at the end of mine, but not sure what that is. Once serialized you will see A (AAI plant) and then the serial number probably starting with a 2. Plant wont get assigned until it's sent to plant (no choice there-it AAI Flat Rock Michigan)

 

Okay, so my salesman just wrote me and said my car is scheduled to be pulled next week, so hopefully I'll get a date then. Here's hopeing most of us have more information in the next week or two.

 

Got an email from the sales manager, he said he knows about my order and that he'd get me some news monday morning...Guess what? It's now tuesday afternoon and no word and he is my salesman's boss, so I guess there is nothing new he can tell me, I'll have to wait

 

An update from the dealer for my order placed 07dec10, hurry up and wait. the dora had a priority of 10, and he is expecting a delivery of the third week of april......ish. That "ish" was a bad thing to hear. He said that he doesn't have the vin yet. Being patient considering my current lease is up 31march11. Looks like i'll be riding the bike to work for 3 weeks "ish".

Well at least he talked to you. My dealer told me that he would at least email weekly updates. I have not heard from him in over a month.

 

Wow, just can't believe the level of indifference from some of the dealers you guys have. You'd think there would be more of a level of appreciation for your business. So OK maybe all the news is not roses and sunshine, but most people (me included) appreciate being kept informed even if its insignificant. How tough can a once a week email be. I get a text every so often from mine. So far its been only a few lines ("No news, but I'm watching") Good enough for me and I'm sure for most people.

 

Would appreciate that for sure, would love GREAT news but an update once in a while would make me happy

 

This is what my sales guy sent me today. He told me 8 to 10 weeks. We will be at 10 weeks on March 14. I guess I will be happy with mid April? Sounds lile no OK to buy yet.

Attached is your new DORA. As soon as the 2012 Mustangs that are built are released for retail sale, they will start scheduling and building customer orders. I’ll let you know as soon as I know more.

I'll be 8 weeks Jan 24 and the General Manager is figuring late April-Mid May delivery. A good shift usually produces 350-400 cars a shift. I believe AAI is on 1 shift, 8 hours, 5 days. Won't take them long to build a wack of cars once the OKTB is given. Just my FWIW crystal ball speculation.

And heres the bright side. Since AAI is right in snow territory, by the time ours get built, the likely hood or our cars getting snowed on becomes smaller and smaller
