According to someone on the Blue Oval Forums, the "OK TO BUY" status has been achieved, however no 2012 Mustangs will be pulled for scheduling this week (March 3). No reason was given as to why this is. It was released on the commodities and constraints letter.

Not sure how accurate this is. Maybe someone can research it a little further.

Sorry guys (and girls).

AMAZING NEWS!! I would love to come back from Germany in a few weeks and know that my 2012 is scheduled or being shipping soon!

I'm still praying for an early-mid May delivery. (fingers crossed)

I do not mind waiting as much as I do not like people being disorganized. This would put them pulling retail orders just about 2 months past the time when they were supposed to start producing them. Ford does a lot of things right, but this is not one of them. It seems that it would be easier to drive halfway across the country to find what I want, then to just get it built. I might have ordered a little earlier than most, but the order banks were open and ordering for 2011s was just over. Ford should be ashamed of how they are treating their customers through this delay. They could have easily scheduled retail orders a month ago.

I've seen a few comments about order priorities. I found out today that my order is a priorty of 11. Is this good, not good or irrelevant?

I am by no means an expert, but from what I've learned here and there, priorities (unless 9 and lower) only mean anything to the dealer. Priority 10 is the highest (1-9 reserved for Ford). When the factory pulls orders for the dealer, they pull the lowest number retail priorities first once the OK TO Buy is given. Even if a stock order has a lower priority number, the lowest number retail goes first. If two retail numbers have the same priority, then the earliest date goes first.

Once Ford schedules your order, then the priority is meaningless.

You can find a good deal with the current rebates on the 11's.

Good Luck!

I ordered mine on 10Feb11. I really hope my v6 can weasel up to the front of the queue, I'm stuck with a rented Kia Forte until it gets here.

Stang-Par do you think it would be worth it for me to call my dealer and see if I can get my order bumped up to a 10?

Sparky might have better insight on this, but my understanding is that once the OK TO BUY is giving, retail orders will have priority over stock no matter what your priority (unless another retail order has a 10, then it will go first).

Any chance Ford is holding up the 2012 trying to get the remaining 2011's sold? There have been folks cancelling their 2012 order to buy an existing 2011. I think that may be what Ford is looking for. They don't care if they move a 2011 or 2012 as long as they sell a car. Ford does not want 2011's around when the 2012's hit the dealerships. As soon as the 2012 hits the dealerships then the 2011 is a year old car and worth much less. If this is what is happening then I would like Ford to come out and say that they will not take orders on the 2012 until a certain date..

I really doubt that is what they are doing, Ford dealers are already getting their stock delivered. The retail orders just haven't been delivered yet. So technically you could go buy a 2012 at one of the dealers that has taken delivery.

Did anyone who ordered in January get a Vin yet?

I noticed my dealer had one 2012 in stock on their website so i wanted to go see it.
But it wasn't there on the lot. Instead I ran into a sales guy trying to sell me another car before mine gets delivered. very funny.. Then the sales manager saw us and tried to check our status but he said March 7th he'll know more. I hope it'll only take another month (so it'll be 8 weeks as promised) but do all the cars ordered before February come first I guess?
