Another biased but experienced opinion: get the Boss. Drive both and decide. You'll pick the Boss. Some even prefer it over the GT500 for overall handling. It's really like no other Mustang. Visit bossmustangsonline and learn the details. I don't track mine, but most who track a lot upgrade quite a bit - so don't assume it's fully track rat ready...

If you know what you want deep down inside, and can afford it (up front cost + insurance + maintenance etc.), then go with your gut ... you don't need anyone else's approval.

I considered both, and went with a custom ordered GT. I like the '13 styling better, and wanted new, so my decision was between a 2013 new boss and new gt. I drive the car like a GT car, not a track car. I wanted leather, choice of color/options, and the GT was plenty fast and powerful.

Don't get me wrong, for the same $ I would choose the boss, but it wasn't worth the extra purchase price, wait, insurance upkeep etc. for my wants and needs.

P.S. The one $ factor where the boss has the gt beat is in depreciation, so if you plan to sell/trade soon that would count in favor of the boss.

If money was no issue I would have gone with the boss for the engine improvements. But I have absolutely no regrets with my GT with recaros and track pack. Since my budget wouldn't allow for a new boss, I got the next best option. The suspension is quite good and I have pulled 1.10 g's with my street tires in corners. The suspension is a bit soft but its very predictable and having it a touch soft makes it easier to drive near the limit. It's limit is a bit lower than the boss but its still a lot of car.

If you want to do significant modifications that might affect warranty then the older boss might be better as it has less warranty coverage left compared with something brand new...

Lastly if they stopped GB I sure am glad I got mine earlier this year!!

Buy the 2012 Boss used and abused or buy the 2014 GT new and abused by YOU.

Forget the 12 Boss, and get a used 13 Grabber Blue Boss! Owning and driving a Boss 302 Mustang is special, and worth the premium over the GT. I just refinanced my Boss to 1.99APR, so these hold their value and if you are doing a 5 year loan, calculate the dollar differential on 60 payments.

If you can test drive a used Boss, you would be hard pressed to walk away.

Go for the 14 GT and have the fun of using the savings to make it your own . Who knows how a used Boss was treated or mistreated ?

Well the decision was made for me yesterday when my dealer called and said my order went through and they're building my Grabber Blue '14 GT with Track Pack and Recaros on 9/9. No idea if Ford changed their mind on the color or what but I'm not asking too many questions. What great feedback on here and appreciate everyone weighing in. Oh, and I did save more off X-Plan so thanks to those weighing in on price Now I get to focus on my first mods!

I Also ended up deciding GT optioned up. The only Bosses around here were Schoolbus Yellow and marked up $5 K ADM plus you can't get X-Plan pricing on them or rebates either. As for your first Mod - I'd suggest a MGW shifter.

The boss seemed a whole lot less special to me as soon as Chevy obliterated it around a track by adding a couple suspension parts on an SS (1LE) lol.

Blasphemy! That was rigged! I haven't figured out a good excuse for how yet. I'll make something up later. You must sacrifice a live chicken to the mustang gods for your act of sacrilege. Ok, maybe a bucket of KFC will work. Drop it off at my house and I'll make sure the mustang gods get it.

That's like saying a GT with suspension work would make a boss less special. It isn't special because of lap times motor trend ran, in between making love to GM. It's special because its a limited production car. Theres always gonna be a faster car out there!

Yep, agree with this. Lots of personal preference with the car.

A well driven spec miata could run circles around a stock Boss with an average driver or even a pretty good driver on many road courses... And interestingly, I have seen MANY more Mustang GT's and Boss 302's attending track days than Camaros... seems to be a preference towards Mustangs with those who track their cars. Not that that makes it a better car, but it does seem to be favored by a number of people who are serious drivers!
