Trying something different with my suspension (2012 SVTPP on 2014 GT Track)
So I picked up a set of 2012 SVTPP takeoffs for 375 shipped. The struts are assembled with OE GT500 Strut Mounts, so at least I have those if I'm really not happy with the suspension performance and want to go to aftermarket struts. I'm not really looking to lower the car as I drive all through NYC and the surrounding area quite a bit on roads that are so worn that a car on K springs would scrape constantly. These are slightly lower (11mm Front and 8mm Rear) than standard GT500 springs, but seeing as my car is a solid 100 or so lbs lighter than a GT500 in the front, the front of the car won't come down as much, which is fine. The car comes a bit too raked for me anyways. I'm mostly after the shock performance, as I find the GT Track/Brembo very underdamped, so if this doesn't do much to lower the car, I'm okay.
Anyhow, I'm bolting all this stuff in the morning. Pics to follow.

So I got it all installed today. I love the way it drives, I love the mild drop EDIT:CAR DID NOT DROP IN FRONT, I'm really happy with it all.
EXCEPT... something rubber is groaning when I turn the wheel. I can only hear it at idle and it gets louder if I've been braking heavily. I have no idea what it is. Maybe strut mount? Maybe endlink? You can't hear it outside the car but you can feel it in the fender. Something rubber is binding up and releasing when I spin the wheel.
DIAGNOSED: Pulled the strut mounts. The coil isolators were missing. The spring was just sitting on half of the lower section of the strut mount. This is how they looked when I pulled them out of the car.

A half an inch in the back I guess. I'm just pissed about the groaning noise, although it may be my fault for not torquing the strut mounts down properly. I figure the noise may be the spring spinning against the strut mount, although I don't know why the strut mount wouldn't spin first, seeing as the car is already on it and loaded up.

So it turns out my strut groan was a result of Shelby American taking the upper spring perch out of the strut mounts and reusing it on the car these came off of. They then zipped the incomplete strut mounts back onto the struts and sold them. Womp. I ordered new strut mounts which raised the front of the car back up to factory height but killed that godawful noise. This is where I am now.
If I want to lower the car, I'll pick up a set of P springs. These shocks are designed to work with the L springs, which are an inch lower than these springs now, so there shouldn't be any problem with P springs. I have to do a little more research into the spring rates, but that's where we're at. The car handles great, rides a little rougher, but feels immensely more controlled all the way around.
