It also has 485HP and a new 8 speed auto.

True, it weights 400-500 pounds more.

3.73's are going to have a little less top-end than someone with 3.15's, and it wasn't floating around. The car felt planted. A car with poor aero is going to "float" over every little bump.

I kind of doubt Ford's claims of 200mph with the GT500 though. 190's maybe, so they probably figured "close enough".

Realize a Veyron Super Sport with 1150bhp, shaped like a bullet, has a top end of 255mph, and that's with the rear wing down and it takes a good long while to hit that speed. With the wing up, it won't hit those speeds at all. The Veyron they ran on Top Gear had 1k BHP and hit 250mph over a 5? mile stretch of track.

Before Nascar enacted restrictor plates back in the late 80's or 90's, they would and could sometimes hit over 200mph, but they were having too many incidents, and those cars look like go-karts in person. On tv, they look a lot bigger than they actually are. I'm surprised Tony Stewart can even fit through the window. lol.

As others have said I would say top end for a mostly stock auto with 3.15's is 165-168 max.
Testing on a track in Arizona on a hot day, the '13 500 reached 196 and the driver stated it could reach 200 with better conditions. I reached 191 on an uphill straight line with a heat-soaked stock blower in mine after about three miles of acceleration on a 90+ degree day. It'll get to 200mph. At 191 with the lower splitter attached I felt every single bump on that road. No floating around at all.

The Shelby splitter (top and bottom) make a big difference above 150 I am told. Friends of mine that have run with and without it have said the car behaves drastically differently with/without it. I've never driven above 140 without it so I can't personally say, but mine has never felt loose or light at all at any speed.

With a 6 Spd and a tune that removed the governor, my car reached 235-238 km/h. On a closed track of course

I stand corrected. lol. Yes, I've never felt anything but securely planted even in my plain 'ole GT.

Yes, I was thinking that with the 3.73's the top end would be a little less...just got to wondering as I had a small stretch of back country road before getting back into town yesterday and so i nailed it and at 100+ it felt like it was pulling just as strong as when I started....backed off as I was getting too close to town.....

At Watkins Glen on the back straight I was just about hitting the rev limiter in 5th gear at indicates 143 mph. See the video below maybe 30 seconds in or so.

I doubt 6th gear would gain much speed over that since it's an overdrive gear

I just wanted to take a moment and commend you on a job well done. Move over Porsche drivers!

Those pesky 911's and up and the exotics are the only people outrunning me on the autobahn, oh and the wagons too. Freaking station wagon mafia. Maybe this Saturday when I head to the dyno/car club bbq I can get a good video. Couple more autobahn runs before she gets sold.

Sure....why not. I'm working all night tonight but I'm off tomorrow to a Pentatonix concert with my wife and boy. I wonder how fast we can get there.
