Is This Tire Done?

I hit my ****ing garage with it - and I'm super pissed at myself for it, and for the nail sticking out. Anyways, is it toast? And does anyone know what the best wheel paint color is for these?

Unless it starts dropping air pressure through that, no. That's just a nick in the rubber covering, looks to be, and the sidewall itself is still intact. Better pictures of the sidewall might prove out how far down it is, but again, if it's holding air and not pooching out... You can run it.

The wheel paint? You will *never* get that silver to match with a patch. So just get some silver touch up, do your bit to make it as less problem looking on the rim, and then blot some on. Or take it to a wheel restoration pro who can work some magic. Dealerships have them/know who to call, ask someone in Make Ready or such.

I have a second set, I guess I can paint or dip these black and be done with it. I'll put that tire out Back for now, I just don't want it to let go if I'm tracking it.

the sidewall looks cosmetic, it's that chunk out of the line there that worries me.

I can't tell based on the picture. At first I saw only the gouge closest to the rim. I didn't even see the one in the "5". I'd check the depth or have a tire shop make the decision if it's safe or not.

Looks like it is just the outer shell, but I would run it on back as well just for piece of mind!
If you find a paint touch up color that matches well please post it!

Yeah it's just that little chunk out of the raised part. The two marks on the sidewall are just scuffs and look way worse in the photo than they are.

I'm going to put it on the rear since it's about due for a rotation anyway.

As for the wheel, I think I found a good paint. My understanding is the Brembo wheels are a black base coat with a translucent silver layer then covered with clear so it's tough to fix them.

Argent Metallic paint is what I'm going to try on the wheel. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

As long as there is no air loss I think you're good to go! :-)

First, you ask a tire shop if you need a new tire, they're going to tell you yes. They're a tire shop. Selling tires is what they do. Second, if you have to ask the question, that should answer your question.

I know a tire shop is going to tell me I'll die if I drive more than 3 feet with it.

I wouldn't exactly go tracking on a tire like that either. You ultimately would be putting yourself and others at risk. its worth just getting the tire replaced if you have that intent.
