Ford isn't a technology company, they're a car company. They work on a different schedule than technology companies do. I wonder if their updating infrastructure just isn't there.
Microsoft should be providing these updates. But in the auto world, who knows what's holding the update process up so much

Windows is always being updated, so I wouldn't even begin to blame Microsoft.

Kinda like Verizon and Android. Google puts out the updates, but Verizon takes forever to put their bloat into it.

I'm just wondering if there's some NHTSA or approved testing the software would have to go through before it's approved. It may not be likely or make sense, but I put nothing past the extent of government red tape.

The update i've been waiting 6 months for is just to fix the "FROM:" in text messages. If I receive a text message it will show it's from me instead of the person sending it. Simple fix. It was working before the update and now we're just left hanging with no answers and no support.

I completely agree with your first paragraph and have some misgivings on your second. A car company in the 21st century had better be a tech company. That said, maybe you're right, maybe they are not. THAT WOULD BE BAD for their future as a viable competitor in the car industry.

All significant improvements in performance, mileage, manufacturing, comfort, entertainment.... are from technology. If Ford isn't a tech company they need to have an amazing relationship with a tech company. Ford definitely has a large r & d / tech department. They need to get with the upgrade program if they want to keep customers loyal. I would happily pay $$$ for significant upgrades which increase the ease of use ad enjoyment factor. I suspect I'm not the only one.

This is mustang #8 for me and I just bought my wife a 2013 Edge, so I'm definitely a Ford guy, but still it's not too much to expect to see some software upgrades.
