Stolen Key
I left my key in the car and ran into the dry cleaners. When I came out the key was gone. Thanks goodness the entire car wasn't gone. I looked all over hoping I had dropped it under the seat or on the sidewalk, but that was not the case. Someone out there has a key to my car and my home. For the moment I pulled several fuses to keep someone from driving off in the middle of the night. I'm getting the house locks changed on Monday. How can I get a new lock set for the car. I'm in Europe, is it possible to buy a lock set it and have it sent to to me?
First off, you'll be taking that to a dealership or locksmith/mechanic who can reprogram the car to accept any new keys. Without two 'originals' that can start the car, you cannot reprogram a new one. Further, even if you did have two originals, changing the ignition cylinder would not let the programming take place as the old keys no longer turn the cylinder, which is necessary to the programming of a third or more. You must have the car reprogrammed with a scan tool to fix this, if you want to change the locks.
With that understood, you'll need to get at least one, but I'd go with two, new transponder key(s). An example: and you'd buy two of them. Again, an example. If you want Ford ones, you go get those. You want the flip kind, you can get those too. Or you want the '05-09 kind where the fob is separate from the transponder key (and you get a fob), well, go for it. You make that choice.
After those are acquired... Now's the messy part. Not only do they have to be cut, but you need them to match your new ignition cylinder (and/or door/trunk ones, mind, one key to rule them all y'know) which have to be acquired... or repinned. This is where the dealership option may or may not be the better idea, as they can pull up and probably change what key cut you have. If you gave them a VIN, they can cut a new key without using any other key to match, it's in the system. But if you change the cylinders and/or pins, the key they cut won't work, of course. If they repin the car, they can tell the system what they did and then if needs arise... it's in there.
But if you don't care about that, then 'any' locksmith or mechanic can do this repinning. The problem at that point is the car's ignition, once swapped, immobilizes the car and you'll have to tow it to wherever it's going to get reprogrammed if it's not already there. Well, that, and getting to the thing to make the changes, that's a problem, but just part of the overall issue...
As I said. Messy. Yay thieves.

I hope you can at least see these. I know ordering from them might be fun. I just looked for what I could find semi-easily on these, they are but examples, and not suggestions in any way. (I love the CYA that has to be done to ensure someone doesnt get all
on me... paranoia (siphons with a large amount of negative pressure)
)
All these are going to have to be acquired and implemented... or have the locksmith/mechanic/dealership attend to the current ones and repin them. Either way will work. If you want it done 'right' of course. Alternatively, you can opt to just do the ignition alone and use the old keys for the rest of the locks, but then you have two keys for the car... harkening back to the 60s-70s.
And at that point, you might explore getting a non-transponder key (if you have that kind already) and get it cut to just do the door/trunk/glovebox if that's what you decide to do, so it'll be less bulky. Of course, the thief/thieves can, if they're looking for it and are still interested in the thing, get IN the car, just can't take off with it, so...
Ugh. Just a mess, right? I hope that helps. Real sorry to hear about that.
Good luck with your situation, I hope it gets fixed right for you and that soon!

Sirry to hear. Did he get your home address also? I lost a fob for my 18, bought a new fob off ebay and had the dealership program it. I would maybe install a hidden kill switch somewhere and be done with it.

HouTex is your guy. Sorry to hear. This is almost worse than having it stolen, and will make you feel weird about things related for a while.
I would definitely get the home locks changed and get a new set for the car as you are doing. Check for any contents you may have had in the car very closely.
I had mine broken into a while back. They took my wife's cell phone along with all of her credit cards at were contained in the phone case that she had in the glove box. My wallet was under the seat, they took all my credit cards out of my wallet and put it back over the set of keys. Did not take them, but it is easy to make an image these days. I had the car key in my pocket and the car was locked, but the JERKS had drilled the driver door keyhole to gain access to the car. It was a very quick in and out and no one in the area noticed a thing. It was parked at a busy city park. There was a set of keys locked in the car for my home and office. Had to get those swapped out. When they finished they locked the car and left it as close as possible to how they found it. Since no one usually opens the car with a key, it took a little while to notice it have be broken into. They even left a few Dollars in my wallet to look like it was untouched. Took about $120 out of the wallet.
So, check everything out very closely. Look for the unexpected. They may have taken other items or maybe left you something in the car
... Good luck.

Although the capitol, Skopje, North Macedonia is a rather small city with slightly less than a million people, of a county of about 2 million. Everybody knows everybody and their business. There are about 10 maybe 15 Mustangs in the entire country. Not all of them run. Whoever did this wanted to annoy me more than anything. It was someone I know or someone who knows of me. I'm one of perhaps 20 Black people that live in this country, and the only one with a red hot Mustang cruising the city. I'm very easy to spot. I posted a reward, but so far no calls. The losers of the country like doing things like this and then sit in the coffee bar bragging about how they messed someone up. That's the way it is. All I can do is pick up the pieces and move on.

Before you order the set for all the locks you can talk to a locksmith and ask him what can pe repinned. You might be able to get the ignition switch tumbler and be able to repin the door and the glove box key to it or even to something else so you need 2 keys.
