It'll be nice when they finally implement a sport mode with paddle shifters. Sport mode similar to what BMW has in their 335i. It stays in gear longer, rather than immediately upshifting. This way you can take a corner hard and immediately accelerate out of it rather than having your transmission downshift/upshift. Then it'll do well straight line as well as in the twisties.

I will be looking forward to seeing what one will do with the kind of suspension mods that the evo car is running and with some really sticky tires.

In that form, I don't see 12.20's or better being out of the question with no other mods.

And then just think about how this car will run with a higher stall converter added to the mix, high 11's maybe!

yeah, but it's the mph that this car supposedly laid down which raises ???

no question that the auto trans can shift quickly or preserves power, that was proven with the outgoing auto trans, and this new one is more than likely better at putting the extra hp and torque to the ground

looking at cars with similar power/weight don't trap that mph, only ones with more hp and/or less weight, i.e. Corvette
the Powerhouse guy with a MT and 3.31s trapped 3mph slower so it wasn't bumping the limiter
Evoperform went 117-118mph but at purportedly 405 rwhp, this car was doing 360ish rwhp
bottom line is power/weight does not equal a 115mph trap regardless of gearing
if the auto GT is the quickest, highest trap speed Mustang then Ford would have given the mags this car to test

motorweek got 116 mph in their tests with the auto
So I wouldn't call it BS just yet.

The Convertible had a MT82 and 3.31.... Or have they tested another 116 mph car now?

Thanks for the spread sheet...very useful.

Surely their are not any unsanctioned tracks still using the old speed traps?...
Doubt it. I do remember that though....lights were an equal distance before and after the actual finish line. Gave a very accurate finish line MPH....assuming you left your foot in it till you passed the last set of lights!

No problem. I built that before I realized that 5.0 autos couldn't get optional gears but I just left it in tact for those who might mod the rear gearing. It's good for a comparison anyway.

Per the other forum - this guy ran against the auto GT.

"I just looked at the time slip when I ran him,His trap speed was 114.3 mph,A lot of people say Sacramento raceway's trap speed timers are a few mph fast so I wouldnt put to much into his mph."

Another person that was there too

"i was there yes vendicated car trapped 115 and kaler nice car man sweer wheels thanks for letting us line up and have some fun everyone was digging that im the one that asked u if u would mind. and some one said its posted everywhere and we are gonna be liars how is that slips will be up in less than 30 min vendicated u got my email address. vids will be up tonight"

It appears that the manual tranny cars are a drivers race against the LS3. The automatics are another animal. the 5.0 will put the L99 on the trailer it seems. I suspected this all along but we need more times to verify. I have never been a fan of Ford autos but they appear to have stepped up their game. Good job Ford.

OT- There is a hot shot I eat lunch with from time to time who has a L99 Camaro. He is constantly proding me about Ford. I have a stock Mach 1. Do I have a chance against him? He wants to go from a roll and I called BS on that. I want to go from a Dig. Do I have any chance?

If that's the correct time slip then most of the performance was on the top end, 1/8 time and mph are no great shakes.

The 115 mph is believeable, after looking at the speed/rpm calculations that would put the car right at the soft rev limiter in 3rd gear.

+1. The 1/8 mile info shown isn't all that impressive given that the car traps the 1/4 so well. Of course, lousy traction and/or wussy rear end gears don't help launch well either.

Must be where that extra 100 HP helps on the new 5.0.

Sure TC doesn't help on the start either.

You can't only look at the rear gear ratio, that rear gear combined with the SUPER LOW 4.17 first gear in the tranny combine to make a super launch gear.

It would be the same as a SN95 car with a 4R70W having a 4.62 rear gear.
