yeah, you don't want to drop HIDs in a halogen housing. I just upgraded from halogens to factory HIDs. Once you source the HID headlights, you just need to get the special connectors and a couple of relays. not a big deal if you plan it out well ahead of time.

We have a great HID Conversion kit for the 2012 Mustang, I have it on my 2007 GT with the reflective housing and it's not overkill by any means.
Here's a link to our 2012 Mustang replacement lighting: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/l....html?year=102
Shoot me a PM if you need more info about HIDs
Thanks!

Thanks for all the responses. I always figured it wouldn't be a good idea to put HIDs in the stock housing but wasn't sure. That's why I like everyone's opinion!! Much appreciated! Now I wish I would have got the HID upgrade when I had my mustang built haha oh well!

it's really not that big a deal to upgrade. just need to plan it well. like we said, 2 options: get OEM HID headlights or retrofit halogen housings with projectors.
You can easily buy a set of used OEM halogens for $130 (like the ones I'm selling ) and have projectors retrofitted in them. lots of info on this forum.
