My guess...Let's say there's a 1 in 1,000 chance that you'll brick your car while flashing it. The firmware update will bring that chance of bricking the car to 1 in 10,000. So if you don't need to reflash your car anytime soon, then there's no point in updating until you need to reflash. But if you need to reflash anyway or are just getting the tuner, then I'd go ahead and update it before loading the tune and call it a day.

ONLY because it was STEEDA who released it. Guess they sent bulk e-mail to their customer base. Trying to be pro-active. HIndsight tells me I shoulda added a post script to the effect. "throwing it out for thoughts", but that is usually understood in this crowd. Was the First I had heard of it, yet it was released by SCT 7/23 ?? I'm on there list cause I am a Steeda customer, but for Suspension stuff. My tune is BAMA, and scince with further investigation... I am holding pat till BAMA say's otherwise. And I got to say also, that I wouldn't do it unless I needed a reflash.

I have the SCT tuner with 2 steeda tunes, switched several times and no problems. My tuner i sworking fine. Ithink it' sthe new wireless tuners that are failing. I now have a custom dyno tune and I'm not messing with the tuner untill the day comes when I need to change my tune ( unlikley ) car is running EXCELLENT, like they say "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

Mine works fine. I change tunes (have 3) every few weeks with no problems. I'm not going to mess with my SCT tuner.

It has to do when you go back to stock. They are having trouble loading the stock tune and the cars not starting.

JimmyM,

This is the first issue we are seeing with the firmware update. All of are customers that have updated the Firmware are good to go. I'm sorry to hear about the long hold with SCT, However I'm confident they'll get your buddy taken care of shortly.

Keep us posted with the details & Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

- Dan

I'd guess by this second post, he gave up with SCT.

No, my wired SCT failed, so it's not just wireless tuners. Mine is part # 3015, which is a VERY commonly used SCT tuner.

Gah as soon as I get over my fear of tuning the car and am ready to buy a CAI and Tuner, I see new threads about the bad, bah! I know the minority is always the most vocal and these are such a tiny percent compared to those with no problems, but it just kinda puts that pit back in my stomach
