Spring noise coming from 2013 GT clutch ped

Hey there,

I was at a stop light and I heard this weird noise like a spring being released and now my clutch feels a little odd. I found this white disc on the floor board when I got to a parking lot to check, does anyone have any idea what this could be? Broken return spring or something like that?

There was/is a clutch assist spring in that assembly to help with the clutch... and some people think it not good(tm).

Here's a link elsewhere in the forums regarding the spring: https://themustangsource.com/forums/...sticky-539109/

And yes, it sounds sorta kinda like that white disc cup broke apart, releasing the spring and causing the new feel. You can probably just get used to the new clutch pedal feel and maybe gain a tenth in the quarter mile or something.

Hope that helps, and welcome to the forums!

yeah it sounds like the "clutch assist spring" to me too, or whatever is the right name . . . there are threads on here with details, including aftermarket alternatives

if I remember correctly, this "assist" or "return" spring was part of the reason for third-gear shift problems and that is why the aftermarket offered a solution, or some people just take them out
