So many choices!

Ok, so basically for my birthday and christmas I was getting a 2013 mustang v6 base model with performance pack. So over the last couple of days, I have gotten two more offers. I have wanted a manual, and I know that manual is probably the best choice for a mustang, but my parents don't drive manual and will allow me to get the performance pack and possibly the premium package with recaros if I get the select shift auto so that they can drive it when they need to. I have also been looking at my local dealers, and have seen some great deals on 2011 and 12' GTs that are even less than a 2013 v6! So I know that it will ultimately be my own choice on which car I pick, but I would still like the opinion of actual mustang owners. Would you get a 412 hp GT over a new 305 hp v6 if it meant not getting the changes made for the 2013 year? Is the premium package worth settling for an automatic? I know that I will eventually be buying a CAI and tune, which may get rid of the sluggishness and early shifting that usually plagues automatics, but that will be much longer down the road. I'm sorry for such a long question on this thread, but this is a $30,000 decision and I would appreciate hearing some opinions. Thanks guys!

Are the GT’s new or used? If new, I would go with the GT…

WOW, that's a tough choice!

I love the '13 facelift/bum-tuck and the new V6 is a stellar performer, but I'm a sucker for a V8.

Personally, I'd test drive both and see which you prefer. I've driven an '05 auto and was pretty impressed with it, so I can only imagine the '13 sixspeed auto will be great. And the selectshift will let you play a little when you want.

Oh, and that's the best birthday/Christmas gift EVER!

I would go with a 12 GT because of the rebates and offers available. I saw a new premium GT for $29,800 at my local dealer the other day.

As for the v6, I would take a performance package auto over a base manual any day.

Whatever route you choose will be good either way. Good luck!

I guess if I were in your shoes, the first thing I would do is teach my parents how to drive a manual.

I like the '13 better but a choice between a '12 GT & a '13 v6 is no choice at all

Yeah, I'm even thinking of trying to get a base 2013 GT depending on the discount that I will receive through USAA. I personally think that a sports car should be a manual. My uncle has two corvettes that he was forced to get in automatics so that his wife could drive it, and yet she never did. He always wishes he would have gotten the manual because its so much more fun to drive and, I mean come on, its a v8 engine with 2 seats strapped to it. So I think either way, I will get a manual, I just want to see the prices for 2013 on both the GT and v6 before I make the final decision.

The GT....and if waiting for the '13 prices before deciding....the GT's could be gone or a mote limited choice.

You're young. Get a manual and enjoy it. You have plenty of time in life to have a comfortable auto family car when you get kids and all that jazz. I regret not getting my Eclipse in manual to this day. So I'm trading up to a Mustang GT this year and figure I'll get a 4 door auto vehicle (probably a f-150) in a few years when I am ready for children and stuff.
