Smokey start

Twice I have notice a smokey start after backing the car out of the garage. The first time I backed it out turned it off, went inside to grab a few things and 5-10 min returned and stated. Enough smoke to notice floated past the front. Yesterday pretty much the same thing happened, a couple weeks after the first time. Backed the car out and did somethings around the house and started it a couple hours later and got the smoke again. I'm guessing some oil is getting past the rings but I haven't noticed this any other time, driving or starting. When this has happened it has been on a level surface.
The car is pretty much stock engine wise, 2011 5.0, auto with about 60K miles. Any thoughts out there? Anyone else get this? Thanks in advance.

White smoke? Black smoke? Was it cold outside?

This was common with the 4.6L motors. My 2009 GT did this occasionally with fewer than 20,000 miles.

Keep a close eye on your oil consumption...likely this will only be a cosmetic issue but it needs to be monitored.

You're still close enough to your power train warranty that you may be able to get some help if there is a serious issue.

Both my 08's would do that and I've seen my 500 do it too. Its only when you start them cold, let them run for a minute or two and shut them back off. Next time you crank it, puff of oil smoke comes out.

Have you had this addressed by your Ford Dealer yet, Dawgsfan? Be sure to speak with your service manager, as he is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

You can schedule an appointment online here.
