Kinda like the Kiss Disco album?

Because everyone knows that CNN is just a shill for the liberal establishment. Fox news and Rush Limbaugh are the only true sources for fair and balanced news

That way if they did a remake of bullitt.... between the charger and mustang the whole family could take part in the chase scene.

You mean, Rush Limp-baugh...? Good job they didn't put him away on the ten felony possession counts. That would have been the biggest blow to the conservative movement since Anne Coulter announced she had a *****.

Meanwhile, back to topic...

I agree. Don't call it a Mustang, but I think Ford needs a stylish sedan. I think the design is good looking (a hell of alot better than the Ford 500, sorry to you 500 owners) and would do pretty good in the market. Just don't call it a Mustang. Every Mfr shares platforms these days, but they don't call it the same name.....
I, for one, am so sick of "vanilla" sedans. They all look alike. At least this is different, in a good way.
My opinion...

even if they added two extra doors and switched the name to mustang, it would still be too much. can you imagine a wagon with an SN95 front end. people would still recognize it as a mustang

And Steve, I think I can put an end to this story with an email sent to me early this morning. I emailed Jim Owens, The Mustang brand manager for Ford. I'll 1st post my email to him: Read below:

This is Jeff Greenly from Yocum Ford. We emailed about a year ago, when I asked (jokingly) about getting my 06 Mustang GT I had ordered painted Dark Highland Green. Vista Blue is fantastic, and the car LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!! I’ll have to send you a picture of it, with the painted stripes, ducktail and all. Anyhow, I have read, as many have, in the recent Autoweek article, about the future new redesigned Mustang for 2010/2011. The article says that your bosses are looking at making a sedan and a wagon (!) and calling it a Mustang!! Please don’t take this the wrong way, but what are they drinking? Please, I beg of you, to tell Kuzak, Fields, and Mulally, to not do this!!! This will destroy the 43 year history of this car. A car that is not only a piece of American automotive history, but an American icon. I belong to several Mustang clubs, and I have already had people contact me in regards to the articles that have surfaced on the net. Many automotive online forum members are posting away how this is the worst idea possible. Ford tried to kill the Mustang before, with the Probe back in 1993, but had hundreds of thousands of letters telling them not to do this. I can believe the same will be coming. If you want to come out with a rear wheel drive vehicle, that is fantastic, but DO NOT call it a Mustang. All this will do is cheapen the brand, make the cars less valuable, and make the term Mustang a “joke”. I can already hear it 5 years from now: Friend A, “I just got a new Mustang!”
Friend B; “you mean you got a sissy wagon?” Not the conversation I want to hear? I know this idea was high up in the ladder, but I know you have some input, as does HTT. I think I speak for everyone who loves these cars, to say it. Keep the Mustang a 2-door Muscle car, its what it was meant to be. Thanks for listing Jim. Hope to hear back from you.

Sincerely
Jeff Greenly

Second, here is what he emailed back before we opened for business this morning:

Jeff,
Understand that I cant talk about future product. There are hardcore Mustang fans running the brand currently. We are you. You cant trust everything you read in a magazine.

Happy Holidays.

Jim

Needless to say, this story is for all intensive purposes dead in the water.

That's F********* up

I believe that if Ford really goes ahead with this assignment then it is putting down the over 40 years history of the pony legend and show no respect to its fans that have been crazy about them for years. if that happens i would personally might as well go buy a camero or something that is still respected buy its creator.

Denial?

Found this on CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/12/15/...dan/index.html

Just providing more "info"

Personally, I think Ford has been so screwed up lately that's how this "rumor" got started. Now starts the "spin control"

Jeff
there goes my plans to make my station wagon a woodie

"
Ford's statement does not mean that the company would never manufacture a vehicle using the fundamental engineering or even some design cues from a future Mustang, Ford spokesman Alan Hall said.
But the Mustang name will only be attached to the classic Mustang-style car, Hall said."

sounds like the next gen aussie platform will be used on a number of new products...
