Sedan and Wagon Mustangs? WTF?
and none of those Mopars have about 8 million past customers and millions of more enthusiasts(plus a billion dollar aftermarket) who instantly identifiy with the car and a lifestyle...unless you want to count police cruisers....
No comparision, the DCX trio are based on an older Benz (E class?). Not exactly the same type of lineage.....

Everybody seems to agree that:
Thunderbird might be a good one. This name is well recognized
and there was a 4 door Thunderbird back in the late 60's. Plus the Thunderbird name is more associated with luxury and performance than Mustang .
Maverick? Fairlane? Torino? Stallion? Shetland Pony?
- 4 door sedan and wagon built on the Mustang chassis = good
- using the Mustang name on that 4 door sedan and wagon = bad

Let me be the first to say this (hope someone from Ford reads this)
I would rather see Ford go out of business than see them tarnish the name like this.
If you want to build a sedan or wagon off the same platform... feel free to call it something else and give it distinctive styling
I realize that the Mustang brand is one of the most recognizable in the world, but putting it on anything other than a RWD 2-door coupe shows how utterly incompetent some of the people in the automotive industry are.
The pic of the link you've posted is done in excellent taste. I would think those who like the Mustangs and have a need for a sedan would like nothing more that to have the opportunity to have the Mustang performance features and design on a sedan.
Given the current available Ford sedans, they would not be on top of my list if I were in the market for one.
Porche and BMW have done it and it has not altered their sports oriented vehicles.

I wouldn't mind some resemblance to the Mustang, although I'm not certain how well the same would actually work from an aesthetic point of view, but calling it a Mustang would be something else entirely.
Just got my printed copy of the next Autoweek and it follows the CNN story with a Mustang-based Lincoln 4dr sports sedan, with IRS, to be shown at Detroit.
That should be the first peek at this concept. (No other pictures in the article either.)
Interesting thing is how this article follows the 2-page spread on the new Camaro convertible concept.

Maybe I'm wrong, but we can relax about the 2 yellow stangs. I think they were chopped right here at TMS and not in Detroit.
I feel much better now that I know CNN is reporting this. Now we know it's not true.

I will revise my statement. An all-out Mustang Sedan would blasphemy!!!! But I strongly fell that in order to not get completely owned by Chrysler/GM, Ford needs to make a hoppin 4door/coupe/wagon...Think 300M and that new RWD Impala
...Its hard to make BOLD MOVES with Front-wheel underpowered cars....
This car should possible share some Mustang DNA.... It is Ford's strongest product EVER... Possibly a few styling cues and engines. Sounds like a fun design project.
Oooo!!!!PICK ME!!!!
