Problems with Mustang production?
Just throwing this out there for debate.
I was at a local dealer today and I was asking the GM why there are so few mustangs 2011 on ANY of the dealer lots (many dealers don't have any, the others might have 1). He told me he doesn't know what's going on. He said he's got ZERO allocation, even if a buyer came in to order a car he can't order one. This is the same problem that all the local dealers are having.
I should mention I'm in Canada, so I don't know if this is just a problem here or not. He went on to say that the Ford rep for my area had an allocation of 8 (EIGHT) mustangs for his district. The district extends from Windsor Ont. to Toronto Ont. (my city London, is right in the middle of the two). This is a huge district with millions of people living there. The only chance a dealer had to get one of those cars was if he already had a customer for it.
Has anyone heard of mustang production problems, or limited availability?

Haven't heard of any production issues, nor are there any commodities restrictions (parts shortages from vendors), but I have 18 Mustangs on order for our dealership that are not scheduled yet even though most have been on order for a couple months now. We're only getting about 1 scheduled per week, and sometimes none, and we're one of the largest volume Ford stores in the entire NW USA.

I ordered mine through the dealer in Niagara Falls in Feb and it arrived in late May. Since that time they have only received one other that was ordered for the owner. I haven't seen any on other lots in Niagara but there's been a Kona Blue GT coupe on a lot in Buffalo for over a month now. I'm surprised it hasn't been sold.

They did go to one shift over the summer, that might have slowed things down some.

I can attest to this. Every dealer in Atlanta has at least one 5.0 on the lot. And I know that many have gotten job #2 cars on their lot too, recently, since I was in the market only a few weeks ago.

We just recently picked up( 3 weeks old) a 2011 GT here in Windsor, Ontario.
We checked out two Ford dealerships and they both had at least 10 new Mustangs on the lot. V6, GT and CS choices.
I spoke with the sales guy we dealt with, about 4 days ago, and he was telling me they sold all the 2011's they had on the lot.
The Windsor Mustang Club had a little get together just last Sunday so we checked it out. There was about 30 Mustangs total, all various years and models, all very nice pony's might I add, and I believe there were 4 of us with 2011's.
They are definitely starting to populate here. I like it.

St. Thomas dealer (SVT) has 8 GT500's and zero 2011 mustangs.

I was at Mall of Georgia Ford two weeks ago. They have a Yellow Blaze so yes they have Job 2 cars. I estimate they had no less than 30 Mustangs there ... 50% were GT's and 2 or 3 Brembo cars. They also had a GT500 in the show room.

I phoned Ford Canada Customer Service yesterday about my order and the woman said that they wouldn't be producing any Mustangs until the middle of October?

From my understanding, there's a problem going on at Ford with logistics. They're trying to get someone else to allocate these vehicles accordingly. They aren't taking many orders as of now, and majority of vehicles produced are waiting on trains etc. Ford is backed up big time right now. This is straight from a dealer in VA and they don't have any allocations as of now. You can put in an order, but it's up to Ford to pick it up or not.
There are a few mustangs at dealership around, but if you want to order one good luck for now. Will be a long wait. Once they figure out their logistics strategy and how to transport these vehicles faster, you will have the normal production in 2 months.
