Problem with Sync and iPod

Did a search, but some threads are old and not quite what I'm experiencing.

First of all, Sync is having a hard time recognizing that I have an iPod plugged in. Not always, but more than it used to. Usually I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Going through the nav touch screen won't work, as it tries to initialize and then gives up. The voice commands work only after replugging it in.

Second, when it is finally recognized, not all voice commands work with it. They did before, but not know. Asking to Play Artist, Play Album and some others comes up with 'This voice command is not supported with this media device'. It was before.

Suggestions?

I may be misunderstanding, but have you plugged it in, then used the "USB Audio" voice command? This is what I have to do sometimes as it doesn't always initialize by just plugging it in.

Yes, I use voice command after plugging it in, but play artist or play track won't work. It did before.

If the PLAY ARTIST and PLAY TRACK commands aren't working, this means it's not indexing. If you're plugging in an iPod that has a click wheel, I suggest performing a soft reset by holding the MENU and CENTER (HOME) buttons until the Apple logo appears. Plug the iPod back in and it should automatically index. If you have a different type of iPod, you'll find specific instructions for resetting here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320
