"Picking up" an order?

Hey everyone, I've been lurking these forums for quite a few months and finally got around to joining

I do have a question about the process which the dealerships goes through with regards to ordering cars. I ordered a 13 GT nearly 3 weeks ago and called my local dealership today asking about the status of my order. He's told me that the order hasn't been "picked up" yet and that for some reason his dealership hasn't been allocated any mustangs lately.

Is something fishy going on here? I was comfortable with a 8-10 week wait - 3 weeks ago. Assuming my order gets picked up next week (which will be 4 weeks) my wait time is going to be 12-14 weeks. Whats up?

Thanks.

If he has no allocation then you'll be waiting and waiting and waiting and then saying goodbye to summer.

Call him back right now and ask him when he has allocation. If he can't/won't tell you then cancel and start immediately with another dealer. Then, get a copy of your DORA and start PMing Deysha. After you have a dealer that has allocation and you have a DORA and your build date has been scheduled, THEN start thinking in terms of 6-8 weeks. Right now you got nuthin'.

Hey bud, he's 100% on point. If they don't have allocation, your order will just sit and never get built. That said, even if they don't have allocation, the fleet manager should email the store's Ford rep and tell them they have a retail Mustang order that they need to get pulled ASAP. That is what always works with us. I've ordered cars before and not had allocation. One call to our rep and we get the car pulled within 2 weeks at the latest.

Just curious. If your local to me, I got plenty of allocation and can get you a car whenever you want. If you have any questions, let me know. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Question-If an order is "in processing" does that mine that dealer has allocation? That what status I'm at right now.

Thanks for the info guys, I called and he told me he wouldn't know when they'd get an allocation until monday. I forget the position of the person he told me he had to get in contact with, but he told me that by 10:00 AM on Monday that he'd have an answer for me.

I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I'm really wanting to stick it out with this dealer because I got a Invoice+$75 deal. It's gonna be tough to beat that, and I really hate dealing with salesmen (no offense to those of you who are) trying to get a good deal. Thanks for the advice about suggesting he contact a Ford rep about getting an order pushed through. If that's all it took I'm a bit upset that its taken 3 weeks to get no wheres when he could have done that and had the order in already.

Thanks again guys.

I would go find another dealer with allocation. Usually the bigger dealerships will.

At least they were honest about it instead of dragging you on for months when they did not have allocation as have happened to a lot of members here

Invoice + $75 is really good. But personally I would be willing to pay X-Plan if it meant I could get my car a few months earlier.

Yeah, they are a smaller dealer, especially compared to Robinson Brothers. You may have run into an allocation issue.

Thank you for the mention, G8toGT!

Azkiger, please PM me with your dealer's name and order number so I can check on it for you.

You have nothing to worry about, Jellowood. Just sent you a PM with a nice update.
