I went with the 18 in. polished aluminum wheels. They look SO much better than the stock GT rims.

So did you decide on wheels? Since your car is going to be here this erring and all....

Yeah I think I will go for the 18" black bullitt deep dishes unless I REALLY end up liking the stock GT rims.

I like 'em...I'll see if I can dig up the pic but I remember seeing a SN95 GT in Torch Red that had the silver lips painted to match the car. It was an interesting look for sure. I think the lips painted Red Candy might look cool!

I thought the ones in the picture were the 20"ers.

the stock tires are 50 profiles. My 18s with 40 profiles looked huge on a gti hatchback.

I love the RTR wheels but they would not survive nyc/nj roads. Thus i happily chose the 18s with 50 sidewall.

If i ever move to san diego, i will gladly swap for 19s or even 19"/20" staggered.

Also the stock 18s are very easy to clean.

Ya that is bad small sidewall for 18. Pretty sure that pic is of 20" before drop.

Whatever, two inches doesn't matter (that's what she said).

The one's in the pics are 20's, but I'm gonna get the 18's. It's the only pic I can see that has bullitt wheels with the new 2010+ body style.

Joker you gonna get the FRPP lowering springs? Those 18s with a 1 inch drop would be the shzit!! That will be my first real mod, the frpp springs.

I don't know anything about lowering. What's the point? That's for tracking the car, right? I have no plans to do that.

Lowering is 95% for looks, less fender gap, more aggressive stance. As far as performance goes, the stock GT suspension is amazing and guys like you and I probably wouldn't feel a difference.

Wow.. Just saying since you're going with an 18 inch wheel it would decrease the gap between your tire and fender by about and inch. It would improve your car's appearance. Just sayin, don't need to get your huggies in a bunch.

What made you think I was pissed off? Relax, bro!

So, how do I go about this "lowering" bidness?

My bad. I misunderstood your post I guess. But yea you can get the FRPP Lowering Springs and If I'm not mistaken they will lower your car about an inch or so. Your handling will be a bit better and the appearance will look way better. Will make that gap between the fender and tire smaller. Stinger has them on his if I'm not mistaken. I know quite a few guys in here have them on their 2010s.. Maybe someone with'em on will post a couple of pics..

I'm trying to decide whether to get the black Bullitts from AmericanMuscle or American Racing (torq thrust M's).

The American Racing one's at tirerack.com are like 176 a piece while the AmericanMuscle version of the same style wheel is 144 a piece.

I'm concerning about quality. How are American muscle rims regarded, especially compared to American Racing?

American Muscle has sold thousands of set of their wheels with pretty much zero complaints. That being said, I actually like the looks of the American Racing (originals by the way) version better. The spokes and lips are slightly different, and they are the wheels that are on blazeone's car. For not that much difference in price, I personally would get the AR Torq Thrusts, but because of the aesthetics...not an issue with quality.

I have to agree 100%. Nothing like the originals

Can I use 18x9 's in all four wheels or do I have to use 18x10's on the rear?

You can use 18x9s all the way round. I'm guessing a 255/45/18 would be the tires size you'd want on all corners then.

As stated above, you can go 18x9 all around to keep your ability to rotate. I would run a spacer in the rear to still give you a slight staggered look, but that's up to you.
