To people with the base GT 18" rims

What do you think of them? The more I see them the more I don't like them.

I keep reminding myself that 18 inches is bloody huge, but for some reason in every pic I see they look small.

Also, what do you think of the 20" bullitt style wheels they have at American muscle?

I kind of like these.

For some reason pics just don't do the car and 18" rims justice. They look small, but wait until you see them in person...they look HUGE in person. It's funny because on my car the rims look perfect...but in pictures I took of my car they look small.

It's very weird.

I don't like the extreme "low rider" SoCal look.

Mine are 235/50x18 with the stock Bullitt rims with machined flange.
There's a little more wheel well clearance from the factory than needed (depending on the level its parked on) but I'm not lowering mine. Yes the 18" are big in person.
I like how the 18"/50 wheel arc matches the wheel well arc. Some of the lowered cars I've seen w/19 & 20's w/low profile tires have different arcs and it looks 'off' to me.

And from what I understand the '11 optional 19" wheels come with 40's so the tire diameter & wheel well clearance is the same as the 18" w/50's.

I think the rims look nice. Pictures definitely don't do justice to their size. Everyone who sees my car compliments on how big they are. Personally I would have preferred the pony logo over the Ford logo but considering there is practically nothing on the car that says Ford, I can deal with it.

I must be the odd one, thinking 18s are too big... *shrugs*

As charliehorse notes, the overall diameter of wheel + tire is the same either way. Plus the car will perform a little better on the 18s.

I think the 18's are the best diameter to run and with the right wheel/tire combo 18's will give the best handling performance and will ride much better than 19's or 20's.

And 20's just look clownish on these cars, like if you had a characature drawing made of the car, way too big for the scale of the rest of the car.

I agree stock 18s look small. but I think with some 1" lowering springs and a bit wider wheel in the back 18s would look nicely. But IMHO 19s look just right coming off the showroom floor. 20s i don't know. Has to look just right.

No, what's absurd are 20" wheels on these cars, they are out of scale with the rest of the car.

20's are okay for a pickup truck, too much for a car the size of a Mustang.

The 18s look much better in person. What really kills them, though, is the tiny width and offset that tucks them into the wheel wells. Add 1" of width and " spacers, and they will look much more aggressive.

^I am in love with these. The question is: Are American Muscle's wheels any good? And 18" or 20"?

18s look bigger and fine in person. I personally like the 19s and thats what I went with. 20s are ok but pushing it for me and anything more or less than those is....well lets just say not my taste.

Those wheels dont look bad in when in 20s but I think you would be happy with the 18s and some meat. There are some pics with those on the 10+ body also. They look good, but Ive always liked that wheel. Some people say they are old school though....who cares if you like them

Go for it. It's hard to say as far as 18s vs 20s on the Bullitts because the lip is so pronounced. I'd go 20s on Bullitts...

won't 20's decrease the quality of my ride? And why doesn't American muscle offer all seasons that fit these?

I like that deep dish effect. The only complaint I've ever read about AM wheels is matching color. But if you buy 4 as a set you're good.

The lower the profile the more like driving on rims. LOL I want a good handling road car on 2 lane twisties (I'm not a racer) but I don't want to feel my spine jar on rough pavement. That's why having 'some meat' like 50's is a reasonable compromise.

You people who complain about low profile tires on these new Mustangs must not have any experience with anything bigger than 18s. Go drive a new 2010+ with 19s/20s or a 2005-2009 with 20s and a proper suspension setup; you'll be surprised.
