Opinions needed - off road H pipe...

My '13 GT is mostly stock, but I'm looking into an off-road H-pipe along with a Lund tune (from Lethal Performance). I've got GT500 A/B and still have my resonators. Would the cat delete greatly increase the noise?

This is a DD, so I don't want it too loud....

It will greatly increase the volume and noticeably change the tone.

What is your goal for the car? Are you looking for performance increase or sound?

A little of both - I want to start modding over time, and figured deleting the cats along with a Lund tune would get me started down that road.

I'm also open to going with a Steeda CAI and tune as well and leaving the H pipe alone.

Can't go wrong with a cai and tune combo. Deleting the cats will give you some high end hp and in my experience lose a little torque down low.

My personal preference would be to leave the H and do intake/tune, plus a resonator delete. I love the sound of my GT500s and I wouldn't want to mess with the tone. A bit more volume and burble with res delete would be welcome though. Good luck, and let us know what you decide and how it turns out!

Thanks TJ. I'm definitely now leaning toward the Steeda CAI/tuner combo, but I'm at least a month away from pulling the trigger. I'll contact you before I do anything.

Also- anyone know how much tuner or exhaust shop would charge to cut out the resonators?

I have the exact same combo and it sounds great, not too loud.

+1 to 5.Monster's suggestion.

This is probably the least expensive path and you'll get a performance benefit too.

This has the added bonus of still being able to get through emissions without having to put the car on a lift and reinstall the catted H.

Also, even if you don't care about the environmental impact of sending raw fuel into the atmosphere with cat deletes, everyone (including police officers) driving behind you will smell the exhaust and know you're cheating.

That resulting perpetual paranoia would almost certainly take some of the fun out of driving around.

Well, fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your views...) I live in the south where jacked-up trucks "rolling coal" is a daily occurrence. No emissions tests here.....

Regardless, I'm 99% sure I'm gonna go with the Steeda combo and cut out the resonators.

I've ran GT500s with stock H and OR H pipe and idle decibels only increased by 2 and while reving went up 10 dec. They sound much better with an OR pipe and give them a deeper tone. Don't forget you will pick up some HP in the higher RPMs with cats deleted.

I have Steeda CAI, O/R H pipe, resonator delete and GT 500 axle-backs my '13 GT A6.

Will definitely be louder with the O/R H pipe but not raspy or just plain annoying like some running muffler deletes!

Also have a Lund tune and I'm quite happy with it.
