Opinion on this 2011 5.0 6-spd
Nice. All I'd want to know now is will they offer you any kind of engine warranty. I think I know the answer but it's sure worth asking. Or even if they'd let you pay part of the cost for an extended powertrain warranty. I paid $500 when I bought mine to extend from 5/60K to 7/100K.
It likely wasn't driven hard. After talking to a bunch of other owners, the lower mileage cars seem to be the ones driven harder. People drive their weekend cars a heck of a lot harder than their DDs.
After looking more into the steering wheel buttons peeling, I found out this issue was more common on cars with mostly highway miles. (lots of cruise control and radio volume changes probably caused it)
I've also talked to a few people on "AllFordMustangs" that had bought from Koons, each of them saying they had a great experience.
Speaking of 'Allfordmustangs', 9 different people recommended that I should at least go look at it and if it was good to definitely jump on it. 9 people in 24 hrs
Besides a warranty, which I'm currently looking into for it, what reason is there that I shouldn't at least go look at it?
I don't mean to sound rude or start an argument. That's stupid. I just want to know your reasoning for not even checking it out?
First my factory ordered car was black instead of Grabber Blue, then they fixed that and ordered another, and then put black stripes on it, when I wanted white. Then they effed up the financing and added 10k worth of crap I didn't want, and didn't take it off right away, but did after the financing was approved, so basically I'm paying GT500 money for my car payments, though the balance is already in the low 20's, over 55k was financed.
Plain and simple, it's modded. I won't touch a car modded in any way.
But aside from that, too many miles, halogens, and no Brembos. The steering wheel buttons aren't helping the sale.
I wouldn't assume a higher mile car with a tune hasn't been driven hard. I'd prioritize the presence of a tune over mileage as an indicator of how the car was driven without a doubt.

True, I said I wanted as stock as possible, but I could definitely live with the drilled brake rotors. That's a nice upgrade imo. Not the biggest fan of the tune, but with the tuner I can put it back to factory spec. The CAI I'm just guessing it has one because of the tune, but who knows, I could be wrong. That's for tomorrow when I get the engine pics to find out.
Too many miles to you, but not to me. 2011 stangs were mostly made in 2010. That means this car is nearly 4 years old. 47000 miles divided by 4 years is 11750 miles per year, which is around the average for a daily driver.
My budget is too small to be able to afford cars with HIDs and Brembos. They also aren't 'must have' options. I see plenty of people on this forum without HIDs and even less with the brembo brakes. Cheapest stang within 200 miles of me with both of those options is $26k. That's just a LITTLE over my budget.
I'm welcome to opinions. If I wasn't I wouldn't have come here. It's just that you seem to be only considering your own needs while busting my budget.
I've considered everyone's opinion on this thread. Some people have given me great advice, especially regarding the tune and everything. If I wasn't listening to you, I would've bought this car by now. I might have made a huge mistake especially if I had bought the car without the tuner. I'd like to thank you all for that. I will let you all know how my visit to the dealership this weekend goes.

eh, depends on how long you plan to keep your car. S197 navs will be really outdated in only a few years, if they aren't already pretty outdated. If you only keep your cars for less than like 5-6 years or so, I see your point.
This car is lightly modded. Tune, brake rotors, possible CAI. Your acting like this car has a supercharger, Boss 302 intake, complete Borla exhaust system, Short shifter, racing seats, and a roll cage. The mods on this car wouldn't even total over a grand. If modding a car was as detrimental to the car as your making it to be, why would people mod their cars?

The factory settings are horrible compared to a tuned car so since the car is already tuned why go back? I'm just really confused on why its so important too you to have factory settings on the car but yet considering buying a tuned car. Am I missing something bro?
I'm really confused on why its so important to you to set the car back too stock when your interested in a car that's already tuned. The cherry is popped bro so why would you put it back to factory settings when the dealership is selling a car with a tune and the performance tuner that goes with it.

Plus it could be tuned to only run on 93 octane. I'd be daily driving this 'stang, so that would not be cheap with today's gas prices. I've seen a lot of people run their 5.0s on 87, especially if they daily drive them. I'll probably end up running a combo of 87 and 91 depending on my plans for that week.
Sorry for the confusion
If I was going to do a tune, I would want to do it to my liking, not the previous owner's.

Heck, the performance tuner may already have a 87 octane tune in it..
totally understand about wanting too pick your own tune but most likely that already tune in there is going too be far better than the factory settings. The factory settings are horrid on the automatics. The shift points suck, the throttle response is okay at best. There is no engine braking with factory settings. Factory settings are just crap compared too performance tunes especially since the car your looking too purchase is already tuned.

Do people actually tune to run on 87? I thought the point of a tune was better performance, which resulted in requiring 93 octane gas. Huh, who knows? Maybe it is that way. Hopefully that's something the tuner can tell me.

I strongly suggest you drive a couple stock mustangs locally if you haven't done so already, before you go check out the one you're interested in. Honestly, since it's already tuned there is no undoing anything at this point. I would just find a tuner (AED, REV Auto, Lund, Steeda, etc) you like and go with them moving forward. FYI- I wouldn't even consider going backwards to the stock tune on mine at this point, that's how crappy the stock tune is.
My concerns regarding the tune would be how diligent the previous owner kept up with the proper octane. Did he cheap out and use 87 occasionally on a 93 tune if money was tight that week? Any time at the track? You just wouldn't know. Maybe it's just me, but these are the things would concern me and keep me looking.
Good luck man!
It's you're $$ and you seem excited to go check it out which is normal. I was the same way but you gotta keep a level head. Buying used you'll never know the true history so you just have to feel it out and be comfortable with what you end up with. I sent you a few, not sure if you got my texts. Yes, they were out of your price range by a few thousand but go, sit with a salesman, don't budge on you're budget and see where it goes. That's what I did with mine and my wife's lease. Have a figure in your head and be prepared to walk if you can't agree on that price. Worse case you get some good practice in before you go down there because they will find stuff to jack up the price, they always try.

I have plans to go to one of the nearby dealers around this one and test drive their stang. There are a lot around there luckily.
I'll never know the true history, but that's buying used for ya like you said. I can make some pretty good assumptions though, like it's pretty obvious this was a daily driver.
I was recommended on 'Allfordmustangs' to start them at $19k and move on from there.
God if the stock tune is that crappy then why aren't most stangs tuned? How bad can that stock tune it be?
Your last paragraph are my biggest concerns at this point. If you can't pay the gas for it, why tune it imo? I'd run 93 octane everyday if I could, but I can't. Combo of 87 and 91 is much more realistic, which is why I would revert it back to stock. Maybe I'll keep a slight tune over stock on it, as long as it doesn't require 93 and I can still run 87 sometimes I'd be perfectly okay with that.
I don't THINK it has any track time. Owner 1 was from Buffalo so maybe, maybe not. Owner 2 was from VA and put a massive chunk of the miles on it while he had it. Not sure where he was commuting to, but it sure wasn't D.C. unless he lived REALLY far away. Looks like he was too busy doing highway miles to even have time for track. I'll obviously never know for sure, but I can hope.
And thanks. I'll be posting the engine pictures I get tomorrow. I called the dealer earlier and had them take a few for me.

Yeah I can see how stock automatics could be like that. Luckily this car is a stick.
