Objective discussion: '11-'12 vs. '13-'14
I love my 12. Matter of fact when I got my 12, the 13s had just arrived and i was offered a good deal on a Base 13 GT vs the 12 Premium I ended up buying. While I'm a big fan of the 13-14 rear tail lights, I personally favored the clean classic look the 11-12 retained. Though I'll say the 13-14 is a perfect update for anyone who wants the S197 body in a modernized form. The only thing I want from the 13-14 is the hood vents and the taillights. I've seen a couple people convert the 13 to the 12 taillight housing, I may try that down the line. Them hood vents tho!
I had a 2012 GT until July when it got in a wreck & now I have the 2014 GT. Definitely like the look and feel of the 2012 better. Also seemed a bit faster. Not sure if the 2014 is heavier (feels like it) or maybe the engine was just a bit better (by chance) on my 2012.
Interior - it's pretty much identical except the new display on the dash. Which is fun for track apps, but I seldom use that display for anything useful on my daily drives. Instead, the Speedo and Tach are pushed out (to make room for the new display) and now my hands on the steering wheel partially block the view of these important gauges. That's a step backwards IMHO.
Both years have craptastic speakers. Engine compartment looks the same. Both my cars had HIDs (that work pretty great). The 2014 has the blingy LEDs in the headlamp and the puddle lights - which are fun for a day or two but are really just novelty lamps.
Those heat extractors on the 2014 - what a PITA. I'm not a huge fan on the looks, but water/rain go right thru the vents and pee all over the engine compartment. So now I have to pop the hood and dry off the mess.
