I used an adjustable paint roller extension/pole I had laying around. Moved the seat all the way back then depressed the clutch with the paint roller extension. Wedge the other end against part of the metal frame under the seat so as not to tear/puncture the seat cover. Had to move the seat a little forward to fully depress the clutch and was able to reinstall the new spring compressing it only with both hands. I think the key is getting the clutch depressed fully in a way that you can use both hands to remove and replace the spring. Took me less than 2 minutes to remove the old (needle nose channel locks and both hands) and replace (just both hands) the new without breaking anything.

Watching this video a few times helps visualize how to remove and reinstall it. He has the pedal assembly out of the car which isn't necessary but helps to see how to do it easier:

I was just about to buy but now I see its going to cost me $21 including shipping with a coupon code for a spring....

I'd get it if you put it back to the original price. Guess ill wait until the new hype wears down or another company/brand makes a similar item.

 

Like many parts that we release ... we often start with an introductory price to get the product in the consumer's hands. That introductory price has now been set to the MSRP - it is still a very affordable piece for the benefits it adds.

Yes, research,design, testing, manufacturing, etc. are all factored into the price - for a seemingly simple part, there are many hours that go into testing & releasing such a part.

Not truth. Take the measurements and search for it. You are not finding that spring for $3, and thespringstore.com has an $85 minimum order and the closest match I could find was over $30 unless you are buying 100+ springs. Put up a link to the exact spring for $3. Guaranteed there is zero chance of finding it at home depot. I was more than happy to buy it from Steeda.
