Not All Control Arms Are Created Equal

Hello All:

The problem most consumers face when purchasing suspension upgrade components for their vehicle is often whether or not they are purchasing the right product and will it live up to their performance expectations.

Oftentimes, faced with cost and brand considerations, consumers may inadvertently purchase a product from a source that they think is a quality supplier/manufacturer, only to find out that the part they purchased for their American pony car lacked proper engineering and performance/safety validation, was built with substandard materials and with inferior quality processes. As a result, the “deal” they thought they had ends up being a disaster.

In the ensuing paragraphs and pictures, we are going to expose a HUGE quality difference that you must consider when purchasing ANY performance part for your vehicle. Like the proverb says:

“Let the Buyer Beware”…

Check out the following release we did to show the Steeda difference!

Best Regards,

TJ

Brand X looks like Whiteline. I hope it's not, because I've read only good things from them.

So your LCA are better because you decided to use thicker metal pieces, guess better welding etc…. My question are people actually having problem with brand X LCAs? Are they actually falling apart? Point is there is point of diminishing return. I could come up with a design that uses metal pieces which are double the thickness of your stuff, would that make your stuff inferior then?

No trying to stir up the pot. Just trying to be fair to brand X. If you tell me the failure rate is high with Brand X is one thing, but if not it doesn't necessary make brand X inferior. Just my humble opinion.

Product isnt always the focus, warranty and support, and actually helping customers also goes a long way, just a thought.

There have been some cases recently of the Brand X UCA breaking at the pictured thin metal. Not a ton, but some.

Yes there have been, there have been some serious failures out there that are well documented on other forums, do a google search and I'm sure you will find them.

I stand corrected then. Glad to know that Steeda knows what is doing unlike brand X.

there is no substitute for sound engineering, materials science and proper manufacturing technique. it also costs money. your life and that of others sometimes rests on your decisions and actions (it is not all about you).

I not particularly bothered by who makes or sells a product but engineering / materials and manufacturing are important. features, service / warranties probably next - as long as the price is reasonable in consideration of the previous points that is the least important decision.

I had an aftermarket uca go bad on me, the rubber part went bad. Made a loud thunk when taking off. I put the stock piece back on and never looked back. I forget the brand name I know it was not a steeda piece.

The inferior piece pictured looks like something off a bbq or swingset.

I mean you've got several hundred horsepower, pretty massive torque, all focused towards the rear end to put that power to the pavement for forward thrust...

It better be strong and well engineered or all hell will break loose!
