Summer I drive Barefoot, winter I am normally in Tennis shoes, never actually drive with the Flip flops on, but I can have them on before the Officer gets up to the window.

I like the feeling of the pedals with no shoes. It is safer than wearing unsafe footwear.
Wow. I thought I was the only one who takes their flip flops off to drive their car. I feel the same way about it. I feel a lot more comfortable and in control barefoot.

I could never drive barefoot. Hate the feeling of having my toes on the pedals as they don't give me a good feed back .

I drive barefoot too if I have flip flops on when I get in. I found some great suede Puma driving shoes but mainly only wear those in cooler months.

Never understood the inability to drive in flip-flops, I've never had one slip or even get close... Then again they have rubber soles and stick to the bottom of my foot pretty good, and I use down-pressure on the toes to keep the heel from leaving the bottom of my foot.

That reminds me of my buddy who drove like a maniac and told me "I've never had an accident".
He was a little older than you are now (at the time 1989).
In 1990, he "failed to negotiate a curve in a residential area". He still walks with a limp.
Take it from an old man.
Just because you've never had a problem, doesn't mean you won't ever have a problem.

I never have my shoes on, except when I'm wearing my driving shoes especially in my manual cars. Work boots are way to bulky and I never want to get in my car with my shoes on anyway. Dirt ya know.... Throw them flips flops off!

Great story!!
