New Product Announcement: Lightweight Battery Box drops 27lb!
Hello-
We have been testing a prototype battery tray for the Antigravity line of Lithium Batteries. Several owners have already been using this battery with good results. (the ATX12 form factor is available in 4 options of cell count/cranking capacity) Each owner was having to construct their own hold-down mechanism or try to mount one of the generic battery mounts in their vehicle.
Our battery box is a direct bolt-in, using the existing factory mounting locations. It features an all-metal retention system that meets the requirements of SCCA and other track day organizations.
Best of all, this battery and mount weigh a total of 6.55lb! The OEM battery weighs over 32lb! (and the box is an additional 1.5lb). That's a reduction of 27lb, which was located high and in the front of the vehicle.
Here are some pics of the prototype assembly and installed in the vehicle. Our first batch is starting production this week, and we should have them ready by mid-July. Please email, if you would like to reserve one.
Thanks!
Matt

Hi Guys-
A few more details:
-The mount is billet aluminum.
-The production units will be anodized black with our logo in the top surface. (similar to our lightweight rotor hats shown here: http://www.morrisengineering.com/mustang/ )
-The cost for the battery box is going to be $99. If you pre-order, the price will be $80. Please email me at sales@morrisengineering.com to get on the pre-order list.
-The matching Antigravity ATX12 batteries are shown here:

http://shop.antigravitybatteries.com...ries-ytx12-20/
http://shop.antigravitybatteries.com...ries-ytx12-16/
(The positive terminal on the right side version is needed "L" suffix)
(The 20 or 24 cell is recommended for V8, V6 can reportedly get by with a 16 cell )
(This is the maker, and if you look around you can get them cheaper from various retailers)
This battery replacement is about the best value weight reduction that can be done with our cars. Exhaust and our Brake rotors are the next best weight savings per dollar.
Our time as an official vendor is coming to an end soon, so please visit our site:

The tray looks great...Will this be insulated from touching sheet metal? I realize that the surface under the OEM battery tray Is painted but I wouldn't trust that the paint wouldn't chafe away over time and have direct contact with aluminum whereupon a galvanic corrosion party would ensue.
Does anyone have a source on the battery itself?

Looks like high quality items from morrisengineering. For the hardcore racer its nice these are available. Its amazing how fast $1500 can leave you wallet between battery, box, and rotors. Its all these little details that can give one an advantage during competition.

There are pads isolating the aluminum from direct contact with the painted chassis to prevent any marring or damage.
The batteries are not cheap, it is true. But the 20 cell battery is being used successfully by several owners and can be found close to $300. That's a lot of bang for buck when you compare to other weight reduction modifications.
