Track day
I had my best track outing at willow Springs international racetrack. The track is not too technical, 2.5 mile with only nine turns. Very high-speed that favors high horsepower cars.
My recent mods to the car have pay dividends on reduced lap times. The car is getting better and better as am I.
My fourth session yielded my best lap time as I was chasing a GTR through traffic for 5-6 laps. He could not lose me! After the session in the cold pits he came by to shake my hand and tell me that that was so fun! He said that made his day!

The big difference is the stock clutch will give you gear lockout at high rpm where is the McLeod does not. The McLeod is a Twin Disc which means it grabs twice as hard. Clutch pedal is equivalent to stock if not slightly lighter.
The only downside that I have noticed is slightly louder at idle. A slight bit of chatter starting off from first gear and you MUST heal/ toe or it will bite you in the a$$.
The last thing has taught me only to be a better driver.

I've been told by most that you get your best lap times free and clear.
I seem to do better when following someone that is equally matched or slightly faster than me. This is always been the case for me of the Greyhound chasing the rabbit.

What was your top speed and end of front straight? How was your speed in turn 9 or 10 - long sweeping rt hand before front straight?
How do you like the Toyo's?

TopSpeed reached on average was 130 mph then braking and turning into turn 1.
Coming into turn 9 is a descending radius and would typically hit the apex at 85 mph. I'm still trying to perfect that corner. Actually put 4 off at that turn at 82 mph last Saturday. A little bit of a pucker moment!

I have the Toyo t1 sports treadwear 240 Summer Street Tires. They are a great all-around tire and have been wearing very well at the track. I have at least six track days on them and the rears are barely worn. They heat up nice and are quite sticky.
I'm ready to move up to the r888's.

Try the r888's. I just had my first day on them and I was only about 1 second off pace from my BFG R1's. They wore really well too and had a nice feel. I'm impressed with the tire so far!

redonblackpony........Willow Springs is one of the great tracks!!! When I was a young man I raced motorcycles there and my first track day in a car was there in 1968 with my F production Sunbeam. I'll bet you had a wonderful weekend and I'm glad to hear Turn 9 did not bite you too hard.
BTW, in the late 60's anyone could drive the track all day for $10!

Yes Big willow has been around since The 1950s. Great track. That's cool that used to race motorcycles there! When I was out there they were racing motorcycles at streets of Willow across the way.
