New member, just ordered

Hey all my name is Kyle and I just got back from the dealership and put a deposit on a brand new 2012 mustang gt coupe.

I thought long and hard about the color and decided based on some pictures found on this forum that I would go with Kona blue and the brick red interior.

I originally wanted a 335i and wanted the montego on red combo but the fact that I would have to buy used and maintenance costs drove me away from the BMW.

Full specs are
- Kona blue/ Brick red
- Manual with 3.73 gears
- Brembo package
- Electronics package (nav)
- Backup camera
- HIDs
- Heated seats
- Glass roof

So yeah pretty much fully loaded. I was gonna skip out on the glass roof and HIDs to save some money, but I figured since i have such a large down payment to put down I should just go for it and I can still have my payments around 400-450 a month with everything.

They are giving me invoice pricing automatically because my dad recently purchased a 2011 gt500 convertible with the SVTPP and electronics pacakge. The car is red with white stripes. I will post some pictures for sure when it arrives, cant wait!

Oh and if there are any requests for pictures of the gt500 let me know, I have a few crappy iphone pics that may suffice until he takes it out of storage ( its currently in the garage under a cover at their beach house).

Exicted to get my new car and be part of this forum!

Kyle

Thanks guys! Yes the wait will be pretty painful, but it gives me a little more time to save up more for my down payment so I dont mind too much.

The only thing im on the fence about is the kona on red combo, I think it looks pretty decent but not sure if im SOLD on it. However, kona is my favorite exterior color and brick red is my favorite interior color so I will probably like it. Anyone have any opinions on this?

Oh and also in the not too distant future I plan on getting the gt/cs front bumper with possibly the saleen grill. I have seen this combo on several sites and love the looks of the front with this combo especially on kona.

Also will be replacing that chrome shift **** soon I cant imagine its bearable in the hot summer.

I don't have the glass roof and my seats are black, but other than that sounds like we have very similar cars. You're going to love your car.

Have fun listening to people call your car purple. My old sonic blue GT got the same treatment. I was gonna go with Kona for this year too, but was sick of that crap.

Yeah I'm sure I'll love it coming from a 140 horse automatic Acura integra lol. I'm glad to hear people like my choice it makes me feel better about the color combo. As for the purple comment, I saw the color in person on a Taurus and didn't think it looked purple, but well see. I'm sure in some light at certain angles it may be true but I really like the color in general.

then when they argue about it you ask em to race, since "its a better angle from the rear"

UPDATE:

I think I'm probably going to change my interior color choice to black with the grabber blue stripe.

I dont think that I will like the blue on red as much as I think I will. Also not a huge fan of the red steering wheel. Half my family was over today as well and we were all talking they were 50/50 on the blue and red, but everyone supported the blue on black/grabber.

Additionally with the blue accents on the inside I will be able to highlight the blue with blue ambient lighting, and a kona blue shift ****. Im liking the idea of a dark blue and black car.

As I said the blue on red may get a bit old after a while, and I may have a hard time selling it if I ever do decide to. So I think this is a safer bet.

Oh and by the way, here are a few pics of my dad's shelby. These were taken when he brought home the car this past summer, so I cannot get any more recent pics/requests until he takes it out of storage.

Sick. I love the Kona/Brick combo, but I like obscure color combos like that. I think the Kona/Grabber stripe combo looks good too. You can do the Ford blue painted coil covers under the hood to tie in the combo to the rest of the car.

I'd do the Boss grill, front fascia and splitter, add the FRPP Boss LS wheels, Roush side splitters and rear valance and the Roush O/R exhaust.

Congrats on the boss man, my dealer is getting one in but boss is a bit expensive for me because he was talking about potentially "needing" to mark it up. But I'm just as happy with the gt and the extra comfort options I'll get.

Going to give my salesman a call during my first break today to change the interior color don't think he'll be awake this early. I'm hoping I can can change it still.. I got approved for the loan sat night right before the dealer closed so I can't imagine my order has been placed yet and that I have a VIN already. I guess well see.. Will keep you guys updated.

Kyle, if you are going to swap out the aluminum shift **** anyway, and you're thinking of not getting Brick Red, you could save a few hundred bucks and skip the Premier Trim package. I can understand not wanting an all black interior, that's why I went with Saddle. Just thought I'd throw it out there. It'll be great whichever way you go.

Don't let the red steering wheel turn you off. I was set on the red seats but was concerned about the steering wheel, so I ordered my car and said I would change it if I had to. It turns out that I love the steering wheel. Wouldn't change a thing.
