I think the point is regardless of what the salesman says, it should be unacceptable to even try to push a damaged car off at MSRP whether the salesman would "drive it" like that or not. He's not buying it.

And opinions were requested. So let 'em roll.
Well for me ?

No I would not. I would not pay that, but I would not lose the chance to wheel and deal. Also would not go to the dealer and buy without having quotes, price lists, and deals from at least three other places. But thats just me.

The Lady buying the car is making that decision, and what do expect the dealer to say ? "Hey do not buy this car, it has a small scratch on it" But yeah, the dealer would of course hit you with the same damage...lol

In all honesty, I think the guy was being truthfull about what HE would do. But the thing is, everyone will do something different. If I really liked the car, I would have the lower valance replaced, AS well as have money taken off for my inconvience. But heh, thats just how I roll.

And Corvette Dreamin; I know you wouldn't pay $36,000. That's why you drive a V6.

You're giving him crap for getting a V6 but you'd get a NEW CAR with scratches in it?

You sir, are a piece of work. Those who've seen me post know I've driven 'vettes, CTS-V's, and now this Mustang. I rarely own one car at at time. I CHOSE the V6 not because it's cheap (mine is loaded, by the way) but because it's what I wanted after having all that horsepower and realizing I didn't really need it. To me that's just a level of maturity that I've reached in my car buying decisions. Everyone buys what they want for their own reasons. I didn't tell the OP he and his wife should get a V6. I didn't say they couldn't afford the GT. I said they weren't getting a good deal. That's simple consumerism. But to pay MSRP for a damaged car is ridiculous, sir.

But I guess that's why I do what I do and you do what you do.

The dry cleaners called. Your plaid sportcoat is ready.

i dont see ANY level of maturity or wisdom.

no, you are rediculous SIR. get the bumper lower replaced with new one, and move on. its not like the car was totalled. or ever wrecked. or anything at all. it got scratched.

ok three points

1. If its this couples car then the hubby should of been on scene
2. you can just head over to another dealer and buy the same car without the ding
3.this is a forum.. he came here and asked what people thought

WOW This just gets better and better.

Truth be told I have never seen the verdict of a bigger question here. What did your wife want? What did the two of you expect to get? Just didn't really understand the nature of the situation maybe.
If this car matches exactly what you guys were looking for at a price you thought was in your budget then perfect! No one, from what I have seen, has actually been trying to raise a conspiracy, just giving opinions of what they would do. This isn't socialism, this is 233 years of democracy, where people talk it out. Thus, a forum of people somewhat like minded come to "talk it out."

I really wish you the best buddy and buddy's wife. If you get the 5.0, have a blast! I hope that it works economically and socially to your benefit. I swear I am not being facetious or sarcastic, I would love to be able to buy right now but I can't. So I say carpe the diem if you so choose.

Exactly. Fix it and move on. Don't tell the customer to accept it like that and don't advertise it as MSRP with a scratch. Simple.

But more importantly, between AmericanMustang and assasinator (cute... come up with that all by yourself playing with your action figures?) I think it's clear where the maturity ends and the wisdom never started.

Just an FYI (that's "for your information" by the way), that red squiggly line in the editor under a word means the word is misspelled. A capital letter usually follows a period.

See? I can be helpful too.

hey guys, we bought the car and I think it turned out OK

Thanks for all the opinions guys, Thats why I posted it and dont get offended by any replies. I didn't mean to start a fight on here. Anyway, I went in with there today and told the dealer thatI was not happy with the interest rates or really anything about the deal and they did help me out some. My wifes car was an 2007 GT with 52K and it was not in perefect condition and the give me 16000 for it and the 2011 GT we got for 35800. We also got 48 months at 3.9% interest rate and our credit score combined was low 605 so I think thats a good rate for our credit history. We also got gap insurance for 300 and no extended warranty. We went from paying a total of 50K to about 40K total after all interest is paid. We have been told the scratch is very small so I'm hoping its nothing major and was told by the dealership that the scratch will be taken care of. I will post some pics of the car hopefully tomorrow or the weekend. Thanks

I'm done with this thread. I wish we had sales professionals like Paul and Jeff in other parts of the world. . .

Stop already. Here is the scratch that someone is "forcing on someone", before it's replaced. I think we should just total the car.

There, was that so hard to do? If you posted those pictures before throwing out insults you might have more people on your side.

The V6 comment was over the top, though.
