Are my tires spinning?

Ok, I know this is going to sound like a real stupid question, but I'm not sure what is going on with my 2012 GT.

Lately, when I punch the accelerator, I get a strange sensation that my rear tires are breaking loose, a bit of a sideways fishtail sensation. But I don't hear any squealing of rubber on the road. This is not from a dead stop, but from a rolling attack as I'm driving along and just punch it. It's not wheel hop, because the road isn't bumpy at all when this happens.

Is it possible at one wheel is driving harder than the other and causing the car to do a slight fishtail response?

I'm not sure what's going on here. Has anyone else experienced this?

If you're getting sideays at all, your tires are loosing grip AKA spinning. You may not always hear a tire screach when this happens.

Yep no traction. This happens to me all the time. I'm careful more now than ever. Time for some better tires I would say unless you can restrain yourself long enough to get some more miles out of them.

Hi Michael Broadway,

I recommend you get it checked out at your dealer and speaking to your Service Manager about this. He/She is in the best position to look into this for you. He/she can check into any warranty, assistance, recalls, or Customer Satisfaction Programs that may apply to your vehicle. Let me know the outcome.

No complaints at all... Had the chord not come out I would have taken them a bit farther..

Thanks. About a month before the chord started slapping the wheel well I had taken them on a ride about an hour and a half away. It of course raided during the trip. It was a bit hairy....

Thanks for all your comments.

The tires are the ones that came on the car when i bought it new. They have 10,000 miles on them and look brand new. i guess this engine just has way more power available than I realized.

I love this Mustang more every time I drive it, even after a year and a half, it's just a thrill to drive.
