Is my MT a problem?

I'd like to avoid the politics etc. in some of the other threads so I'd like to ask the question directly here.

I have a 2012 V6 with the 6 speed MT. I've had it about 3 weeks (or is it 4 now?), just crossed 1700kms on it (so just over 1000 miles).

Shifts into 1, 2 and 3 feel a bit stiff, perhaps notchy? (Not sure what people mean by notchy, though it feels like it's "clicking" through into gear so I guess notchy would fit). I don't get grinding, but sometimes into second there's a clunk. I've had it pop out of 1st twice, though it could just be I didn't put it all the way in right or something, each time it happened right after the shift and made one horrid noise until I got the clutch in a half second later. Generally 4th 5th 6th are all smooth shifts.

I drove a 2009 VW Rabbit before this with the 5 speed, never had much issues but smaller car, smaller engine etc. But I have driven standard for 2 years now.

Anyways I don't hear grinding like when you screw up a shift, it just takes some effort to get it into gear sometimes from 1-3, other times it's just fine. Downshifts never seem to be an issue, more upshifts.

So I'm sure part of it is just me getting used to the car, as obviously it does shift a lot differently from the VW, and had I not read the forum threads on this (wish I didn't) I probably wouldn't have thought much of it. But given what I see, do I have an issue, should I have it looked at, or am I just finding something that's not there because I read something?

Not looking to get into the whole debate, just looking for some direct advice on my situation.

Otherwise I love my car, even being the 6 it hauls *** compared to other cars I've owned, it's fun to drive and gets lots of attention so I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing issue.

Try shifting from 2nd to first when stopping at the light, Just before you get to a complete stop. Just barely. I had issues in my GT500 like that and it helped. Usually I would go into 1st a couple times just to be sure after having it spat back out a few times. It had trouble engaging all three syncros. It would 'click' through the first two, but not the third. Going from 2nd helped align them.

The V6 MT is the same tranny as the GT, but has a different (and more expensive to replace) clutch. I don't know about whether the shifter is the same.

Though i don't want to speculate on what exactly your problem could be, you seem to be experiencing some of the same problems some have been reporting about for a while with their 6MT 11's and 12's MY.
I would first advice you to bring it in at your local Ford dealership and have it checked.
Hopefully they will be able to replicate the same issues you're experiencing. Of course it'd be better if you could be in the car during the test drive.
If not happy with the way they handled your problems, try contacting Deysha from Ford CS and she'll escalate this for you through Ford of Canada, you'll then get a case #. You can easily find her over here.
